Last night, I attended a beautiful workshop about Womxnism at @thefraybaltimore and was so moved by the sense of community in the space🙏🏾💕✨ —— I’ve already been into black feminism/womxnism for years now, but I learned so much in the few hours I was there and it inspired me to dig deeper. We don’t have to choose what to fight against when all systems are against us, so we have the right to call out said systems while finding our peace in the process. —— The best part is that we don’t need anyone’s permission to do it though we are always met with backlash for our resistance. Why though? What is so intimidating about black womxn and femmes seeking liberation? It doesn’t even matter because we’re going to finish what we started. It always baffles me the amount of people who co-sign with misogynoir-istic ideals, even when it’s apparent that it’s harmful. Well I’m not here for it🙅🏾‍♀️ Nobody is allowed to make me feel worthless or ashamed, especially since most people don’t have a basic understanding of black womxn’s struggles anyways. —— That’s why it’s important that we love ourselves to the highest degree, not even to spite the world, but to give ourselves the love we deserve in such a confused society. The covert and blunt messages we receive everyday about the way we look, act, and “are” are fuckin tiring and it sucks to always be gaslighted into believing it’s just a joke. No. These “jokes” are based off years of deep-seated hatred for black womxn and our pain is no laughing matter. —— Resist it all, sis🙌🏾 Resist the idea that your skin color isn’t preferable, resist the fear of being too loud, resist the notion that your feelings/trauma are a burden, etc. Your self-love is a revolutionary act, so please remember that you are not who they say you are.
