People at work sometimes say I should go into academia at some point, but I respond that academia would be even more eager to get rid of me because 99% of academics aren't intellectuals, they're just neurotypical enough and from well-enough families with the right habitus that they can commit 8 years of their life to busy work without breaking down. They're like every bozo on YouTube comments but with highfalutin grammar and spelling.
