It turned out that the child wasn't just carving a singular dent in the ice, but several, equidistant and forming the outline of a larger circle. As he was making the final perforation, he heard the voice of the curious onlooker and stopped what he was doing.
His expression upon seeing her was unreadable. Unlike the icy outsider, he didn't have a visable mouth, making it uncertain on whether he could even speak. However, that uncertainty was quickly dashed.
"Oh, I don't need any fancy drills for something like this," he said with a shake of his head, "Just some good ol' ingenuity! You see this here?" He then pointed to the pattern he had created with a quick twirl of his spear. "Doesn't seem like much progress, does it? But I know how to use it to my advantage."
"Here, stand back and I'll show you!"
Bandanna crouched down, holding the spear over his head as though he were about to toss it...but instead, he started spinning it. Faster and faster it went, until he was suddenly lifted off the ground! Like a small helicopter, he flew high into the air, hovering over the center of the circle of circles. Then, he fell. He aimed the pointed tip downward and slammed it into the ice with as much force as possible.
With a loud crackle, the dents merged into a solid edge. The plucky waddle dee was back on solid ground, a large, rounded chunk of ice stuck on his trusty weapon when he held it up again.
"Tada!"
