Where has Ian Beale been hiding?
Pictures released by the BBC today show Eastenders' Ian Beale homeless and ragged after a breakdown. Here we see him hiding behind a tree, sporting a wispy beard, dirty clothes and a haunted look in his eyes that says 'I've seen things that can never be unseen'.
Poor man. But, aside from behind a tree, just where has Ian Beale been hiding during his absence from Albert Square and what's he been getting up to?
While Jimmy Carr contemplates just how he's going to afford to fill the tank of his Bentley, Ian hovers in the foreground, wondering where it all went wrong.
As Prince Philip looks away from the Diamond Jubilee celebrations menu and the Queen attempts to look interested, Beale just weeps silently, acutely aware of how underdressed he is for the occasion.
Wanting to get a closer look at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Beale finds himself positioned alongside the equally bewildered will.i.am, a contemplative looking Tom Jones and the 'always understated' Elton John.
In stark contrast to the celebrating Italians and the bemused, trouser-less England fans, Ian Beale yearns for simpler times when he owned a fish and chip shop and had a house in East London.
'If I can't access my money, neither can anyone else', thinks Beale, as he sabotages NatWest's banking systems with an unhinged grin.
Sabotaging banking systems and causing misery to millions is thirsty work, as evidenced by Ian's visit to fictional Coronation Street pub, The Rovers Return. 'I'm confused', thinks Ian.
