Do you intend on closing the form early at some point, or will it remain open for the entirety of phase two?

phase two will kind of have two parts to it

right now, the polls being posted are over words that have been submitted. once all of the words have gone through these polls, there will probably be approximately 400-500 words left (assuming I get word submissions at about the same rate i am now), and then I will close the form.

the second part of phase two will be more polls to narrow down the 400-500 words to 128 words, and at that point, I will organize them into an actual bracket tournament for phase three

Hypothetically speaking, if I submitted the words marbles (as in, the small balls that gets knocked about) and marbled (the layering of multiple things that causes a pattern that looks similar to marble) and marble (the rock) and did not specify in the forms submission, would all of them get in, or would at least one of them be disqualified for the "different forms of words" rule?

Anyway uh I think I will be submitting the word homonym.

if i saw those words submitted before reading this ask, i might have only kept the first one submitted and disqualified the other two. now that i have seen this ask, i will keep all three if i see them.

yes, but the "__ words in queue as of this post" number is actually as of when I add the post to the tumblr queue, so it will make big jumps occasionally

a little over 300, but there were some duplicates. there are now 1,357 words total in the tournament (including words that have already been eliminated)

Are you aware that there's a Smithsonian museum in Washington DC that's entirely all about words?

It's called Planet Word and their Instagram account did something like this back in March
