Downtime at Work
Hello friends,
So my new job is an interesting one. I kind of act as a secretary that is used on a as needed basis. I handle my preschool’s social media and will do filing and other busy work the other admins do not have the time to do. I was promised that I will start writing fine arts curriculum with the owner soon, but this hasn’t happened yet. So, in the meantime, I find myself with very long stints with nothing to do. I try to always have a few personal social media things to do each day on my own list, and I always ask if help is needed, but when I get a “not right now” I’m at a lost.
I feel guilty being paid for so many hours when I’m not actually contributing to the school. It’s not like I ignore responsibilities or don’t ask for things to do... There just don’t seem to be enough to fill up the day.
Does anyone have advice for how I should handle the situation? I don’t mind downtime, but I don’t feel like I’m being utilized or challenged.
How much downtime is too much downtime?
