“I’m tall enough, and that’s what matters. I can fly, anyway, so who cares?”
“That’s not how you pronounce October, guys.”
“Um. No. Stop.”
“Marriage is something that some people do, when they’re romantically involved and they love each other so much they don’t want to be apart from each other ever again. And a proposal, or getting engaged... that’s when people ask each other if they want to get married to each other. And there’s no actual showers at baby showers or bridal showers--those are just parties where people give the people having a baby or getting married gifts.”
“.....”
“... Fuck.”
Marceline got Brooke’s address from Varian--apparently the two teens didn’t live far from each other--and she made her way to Brooke’s townhouse to talk to her. Marceline had a role in the wedding for the girl.
She rang the doorbell, and by luck, Brooke was the one who answered. Maybe Varian had given her a heads-up that she was on her way. “Hey, girlfriend, I wanna talk to you! I got some big news.”
Brooke nods and smiles, stepping back to allow Marceline to float into the building. “What’s the news? Varian seemed kind of excited when he messaged me, and he wouldn’t say why.”
Marceline absolutely beams at Brooke. “Peridot and I are getting married!”
Brooke blinks once, twice. “Um. Yes, I-I knew that. You guys have been engaged since before we left the old place.”
Marceline laughs and shakes her head. “No, no! I mean we’ve got a date! We’re getting married next Saturday! And we want you to be the flower girl!”
Brooke blinks some more, and then slowly a grin grows on her face. “Really! Wow, so soon! I mean, you two have been engaged since I’ve known you, so… I suppose it’s a little overdue, but--wow, this is short notice! I need a dress, especially if--wait, you want me to be the flower girl?”
Marceline grins and nods. “Yeah! Varian’s the ring bearer. We thought it’d be cute if it were the two of you.”
Brooke claps her hands together and nods enthusiastically. “Yes, I’d love to do that! Oh, I’ve never been in a wedding before! I-I’ve never even been to a wedding! This is so exciting!”
Marceline reaches over to pat Brooke on the head. “Wear a nice dress, whatever color you want. If you come to Dressed to Kill, I’ll even cover it. I’m excited to have you be a part of this thing!”
“Me too! Ah, I’ll get right on getting ready!” Brooke cheerily bounces as Marceline turns to leave.
“Alrighty then, I’ll catch ya around, girly! Thanks, Brooke~!”

“Hey, Rosa!” Marceline greets her friend with a grin. “Listen, Dotty and I are gonna finally get married next week, and we wanted you to be a bridesmaid. You down?”
“Why is my ‘Travis is being self-destructive’ sense tingling?”
