An American Workers' United Concept
from /r/vexillology Top comment: I've become very interested in workers' parties/movements lately, and I discovered that the flag designs were dominated by references to disgraced or tainted ideological symbology (though I can't say I've seen them all). My objective was to try to design one for the USA in 2020, where uniting all workers presents a bit of a unique challenge. I decided I had to avoid any of the obvious socialist/communist symbology, as those terms and icons (let alone the concepts) have been thoroughly poisoned among certain groups in the states. Obviously, that takes quite a lot of good icons/symbols representing "work"/"workers" off the table. I landed on the idea of two hands/arms clasped in solidarity, stylized after the iconic "socialist fist," which I felt had the right dynamism to it. The rest of the symbolism is fairly simple, or even weak. I chose vertical stripes to convey standing together, side by side. The stars and colors are based on the US flag, meant to convey democratic ideals, Americana, and the like. The number of stars and stripes (7 each) is of no intended significance. Open to feedback/criticism! Apologies for the unnecessary apostrophe in the title. I was thinking of "Workers' Party" but wrote "United" instead.
