Today, with my blog, I'm going to cheat a little bit. I've just finished writing an assignment report for the Directing Actors Workshop that I was talking of the other week, so I'll post that up here. Here goes... Over the last two weeks the Screenwriting and Directing students have been thrown into a studio and taught what it is to be both an actor and a director. Though I dreaded this workshop I found myself immensely enjoying the first day. The atmosphere was very open and there was no judgement towards bad actors. One of the best parts of the first day was mixing with the Directing students, who we will be working closely with over the next three years. The second day started out much the same. As we grew more comfortable with each other we let our confidence seep into both our acting and directing. I found it interesting the subtle difference between the budget-conscious Directors and the outlandish Screenwriters. However, by the end of the workshop (I'll admit that I missed the last day due to illness) I was finding that things had become repetitive. I've was told that on the last day we had cameras to work with as well, which would have been informative, but I feel that the first three days could have easily been condensed into two. While it was overall very rewarding and informative experience and I now feel that I can confidently mix with the Directors, I feel that time management is one area where it could be improved. And done. Enjoy. For any worried about me and my plight against acting, I'll put your mind to rest simply by saying that this week, my acting was better then my directing. Who would have thunk. Until next time...
