Our new placement student Hope started her week with the Coproduction Team...with bang! A trip out with some objects and a pack of #ThreeThings cards. Students at the Joseph Wright college, so close to Derby Museum and Art Gallery had no idea where the museum was so the activity acted as a marketing tool too. We moved down to neighbouring streets to encourage local businesses to participate in the formative dialogue stage of the project. We hope that by reaching out to as many people across the city as we can will ensure a broad and diverse foundation to the formative dialogue phase of this engaging project.

Working closely with artist Theresa Hempsall and the Upbeat Community group we were privileged to be able to share objects with people who are new arrivals to Derby. 

The objects as always, ignited interest and discussion and it was amazing to be able to offer space and time for connections to emerge between people, objects, stories and each other.

This is the start of a new friendship and we hope to continue the discussion over the next year to help shape and inform the interpretive strategy. Following an initial meeting at the museum Theresa used photographs of the objects to continue the exploration. These beautiful prints that the group produced would look amazing in the project lab as a means to encourage creative response. Watch this space…..
