Rereading your old fics (as I often do) and I don’t think I’ll ever stop laughing at the fact that Tommy in world forgetting just lost his memories because he got robbed. No big elaborate twist or scheme or mastermind tactics, bro just got mugged and that’s beautiful

lol I'm so glad you liked that plot twist. I had that decided from incredibly early on when I was planning world forgetting so it was so fun for me as I started posting the fic to see people theorizing in the comments how tommy lost his memory. but I also liked it because to me it just represented how random and senseless trauma often is very well. because world forgetting is, in many ways, a story about how trauma can change a person often in permanent ways and how the people who love you have to accept that and how you also have to accept yourself and this new version of who you are, even though it hurts. so like, it's funny, but there's also the deeper meaning to that choice as well

hi bones! i have adored your fanfiction for a while now, i really love your writing style :DD a while ago a friend introduced me to book binding and i immediately thought that i need to bind my favorite fanfictions, so although it took me a while (i've been meaning to do this for like a year 😭) i've finally bound my fav fic of yours, the world forgetting by the world forgot!!

hi, so this is kinda random but i was watching eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (which btw fantastic movie, i think it's slowly becoming one of my absolute favourites) and it reminded me of your fic

i was just wondering if the title for the fic was initally based off the film or the original poem, and how that inspiration affected the overall story?

small side note, but was the ending of world forgetting by any chance inspired by the eternal sunshine ending? because i feel like they have quite similar parallels with the whole 'messiness of relationships and love and learning how to grow as people. and then having a hopeful ending but also not an ending that's set in stone yet because you decide that the people you love are worth the struggle' and i honestly love both the endings of the film and your fic

god i found this film so genuinely interesting to think about and i just had so many thoughts about themes and characters and arghhh

(sorry if you've answered something similar to this before, i was just super curious and i never really deep dived into the title origins until now. i know it's been like years since the fic was published but still-)

(also just wanted to say i reread honey and tangerines recently it's such a comfort fic for me because i love the how the characters are written and it just feels so cosy. on a final note, sorry for rambling quite a bit, this was meant to be only the initial question but oh well)

hello hello I am answering your ask like a month and a half late and I am so sorry about it but unfortunately law school just eats up all of my free time

but let me tell you when I read this ask for the first time over a month ago I got so excited because yes! a ton of my inspo for world forgetting came from eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, including the title. it's one of my all time favorite movies and I always really loved the themes about choosing ignorance and messy relationships and how your memories change who you are as a person and the way that affects your relationships and just all of that. I also tied a lot of other themes into world forgetting that weren't from eternal sunshine but that was definitely a big chunk of the inspiration so it made me so happy to see you pick up on that. it's such a good film ugh

(also awww ty to this day I still don't know how I managed to make honey and tangerines feel so cozy when I wrote it but I do love looking back on it it's such a sweet story I'm so proud of and I'm so glad you enjoyed)

Speaking of World Forgetting, one scene I keep going back to is Tommy waking up in that chair and Wilbur really not dealing with it. This is the first time he's been able to speak to Tommy as Tommy (as opposed to their personas) and it's rapidly clear that something is Off, that this isn't just Tommy rebelling by teaming up with Dream and still being upset over the argument they had the last time they saw each other as brothers.

This is the kid Wilbur saw as a little brother yet now that kid despises him. God knows what Dream did to him to cause the amnesia and use it to turn Tommy into somebody he doesn't fully recognise but they will get to the bottom of this. Then over the coming days and weeks, he sees Tommy get lost in the pressure to be somebody he isn't anymore. Wilbur will love Tommy regardless of who he is now. If that means letting him get a headstart on running away, so be it.

Things will eventually work out for them but in that moment, where Wilbur unmasks a panicking Lucid to reveal the person whose absence he's been grieving for months, his whole world falls apart.

goddd that was such an intense moment to write in world forgetting. it really was Wilbur's worst fear being realized. in the back of his mind, he knew that something wasn't right with Lucid. he knew that there was a connection between Tommy's disappearance and Dream suddenly having a new sidekick. but as he got more and more suspicious Phil and Techno would dismiss that as impossible whenever he brought it up, because of course Tommy would never do something like that. if Tommy was actually Lucid, that meant something was seriously wrong and it wasn't just Tommy running away out of anger, because it went against literally all of Old Tommy's morals. and Wilbur didn't want to believe it either, but deep down a part of him Knew. so when he took that mask off and saw it was true, yeah, his entire world fell apart
