bale has spent weeks courting aradia, opening up to her, comforting her, spending hours and hours researching how to help her (with a problem that’s technically breach’s responsibility), being SO tactful and not talking shit on breach at all to her, and now one week after aradia agreed to be his girlfriend he’s gonna lose her to breach because breach finally thought about it for thirty seconds and told aradia he likes her. unfortunately bale is pretty justified in becoming the joker over this so we’ll see how he takes it

breeding kink hellhound is inevitable. once they make it through the gauntlet of breaking breach's engagement/ dealing with his parents' being mad/ almost certainly eloping, it'll be about 30 minutes before breach decides it's time for an heir, and he's never been anything less than one thousand percent committed on anything

the timing wasn't on purpose, bc i was prepared to go full mess from the beginning, but it IS very funny that aradia completely shut off her breach angst coincidentally just in time to start dating bale. now she gets to nurture that romance completely unconflicted for a while until the breach feelings magically come back online and she suddenly realizes she now has two boyfriends. oops

one of the funnier things about doing romantasy tropes in a ttrpg game is that you largely lack the removed-from-reality romantasy framework. so we're doing the bog-standard "hot warrior guy relentlessly trains heroine and is really hard on her [while secretly obsessed with her]" and instead of the supporting cast being like "don't worry, he has a sad backstory that explains why he's Like This", they're like girl are you good? blink twice if you need help?? what do you see in this guy again????

world scorned's themes of servitude and exchange and cost, control and ownership and obligation, power and who wields it and how. what culpability you have for the damage you do, whether it's for your own purposes or for the Greater Good. the power (and limits) of love (for a city, for a people, for your child, for a lover, for a god) under that weight. the central motif of an orobouros bc this shit never ends, you either die a servant or you become a master.

aradia is obviously naïve but i also don't think her perspective is as simple as just that -- there's also a kind of freedom and clarity in regarding all the social structures of this world as a weird game of pretend that everyone else is taking very seriously. everything that isn't her apocalypse cult church is meaningless to her. so on the one hand, yes she is extremely bad at the game and will accidentally offend people/ put herself in danger/ reveal too much information to the wrong people/ look ridiculous, but on the other, unorthodox methods get unorthodox results. people are so taken aback by blunt honesty and lack of pretense/ agenda in this setting that she sometimes circles all the way back around to being as good at talking to NPCs as Kit and Breach, the group politicians.

(this is super fun to play bc it's a stark contrast to teddy, who is WILDLY self-conscious, hyperaware of all context and power dynamics, and constantly overthinking everything, and Aster, who is also extremely aware of all these things but often chooses to ignore them out of a privileged/ arrogant mindset that the rules don't apply to her)
