Angels are born of the tears of the kingdom of heaven.

Literally.

The castle that IS "The Kingdom of Heaven" continually weeps at the injustice of the world.

Its waxen tears, each the size of a man, contain the embryonic forms of angels who are born when the drops containing them fully fall.

This process can take anywhere from 1 hour to a millennia depending on the power of the angel to be born which varies based upon the evil the angel is made to confront.

The most recent unborn angel to take more than one decade to be born is theorized by the heavenly scholars to be an answer to capitalism.

As such the kingdom is on high alert for would-be assassins and have barred its chamber from all but the most proven of the worthy.

The Spectrumancer

Perhaps one of the more misunderstood magics is that of the spectrumancer, those who can pick magic out of the air around them, and bend it to the shapes they need. 

Or at least, that’s what many think. The light around us has many magics, and picking which light is a delicate process, the bludgeon that red provides can be useful, and also easy to control, but the hot sharp knife of violet is often more useful for delicate violence. Those with a milder temperament may reach for yellow and green, for their volume, sending ideas great distances and whispering in the ears of giants, and the healers may reach for blue's warm touch.

But none of these wonders are reachable without a good light. White is best of course, then you can pick and choose what you need, and sunlight usually will do the trick, provided the day is not cloudy out. But spectrumancy didn't really pick up until man could create white light of it's own, because fire and moon light would not meet their delicate needs.

All in all, it's amazing what one can do with a flashlight and a prism. And once the spectrumancer grows strong enough, any light at all.
