Beeswax is a natural substance worker honeybees (females) secrete from wax-producing glands in their abdomen. It is used to create “honeycomb” - cells that are assembled in a horizontal, hexagonal pattern for maximum strength and volume. This is where they raise their brood and store food. Bees must make and consume over 8 pounds of honey to create 1 pound of wax! There are records of humans using beeswax for many purposes since antiquity.
