ARE WE REALLY WORLD CITIZENS?
We live in the same world as all societies. And we have many security rights in this world. The security we have as human beings; economic, political, food, health and environmental safety are some of them. People should live as befits human dignity. But throughout history, there are still communities that are still deprived of them today. We are aware of these, but we are not there and we do not constantly see them. This does not mean that they are not there or live. The house you were born in, the place where you were born, the family you were born in should not determine your dreams of your future. We are all citizens of the world. And this world belongs to all of us. Won't the problem somewhere affect us? The world is all of us, and wherever we see it being put in danger, we must intervene. So, it's not just a situation that will affect one community, one race. | In the words of Hugh Evans we are a person of the human race before belonging to a race, a country, a piece of land. And those who struggle with the difficulties of our world are citizens of the world. Citizenship means being in action. The future of the world depends on the citizens of the world. Many problems would be solved if there were more active world citizens in the world. This is how we can say these things and agree with these thoughts. But we don't know how to do it. Or we don't know where to start.
Hugh Evans' speech inspired me a lot. He made us believe that a small movement could change the whole world for us. Because it is necessary to start somewhere. It is a huge move that Davinia collected only $ 0.01 in a year and helped the education of 120 young girls. Or the fact that a small campaign initiated by Hugh Evans and his friends resonated in the world and mobilized some countries for investment. Again, it was enough if we were to act on the global cause instead of buying tickets through a festival. . World problems can be solved with global solutions.
The tools to change the world are ahead of us, technology has advanced and access to information is faster and easier. Activism is to be active. Here are 3 steps that the world citizen will take be aware, participate and take action. Moreover, this movement does not have to be physical. It is enough to confirm and share. Everything that happens in the world we live in certainly affects and will affect us as well. World problems can be solved with global solutions. The citizen of the world is the one who adopts every good thing we have in common and asks the question of why and acts together. After Hugh Evans’s presentation, he makes myselves ask the following question; Am I really a citizen of the world?
