Since the moment I first heard this song, I have always felt that it was beautiful and haunting. Like a personal note to someone who was once special. No music, just plain vocals. But never did I actually make the effort to understand the meaning behind the lyrics, until now. A recent conversation spurred the remembrance of this song and I had to look it up again. And when I finally took the time to understand the lyrics, it hits me - and I am sure it has affected others as well. Whether or not it has any relation to something you have experienced or are currently experiencing, the moment you understand, you feel it. And yet, the song has no end - you seek to have a closure with it, but will you ever, really? A random thought. Just worldly, unimportant and wholly insignificant thought.

Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allah has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers) with Him.
Say: "Shall I inform you of things far better than those? For Al-Muttaqun (the pious) there are Gardens with their Lord, underneath which rivers flow.
