on the metro the other day. consumed by zadie smith's 'white teeth'. a group of young men entered the train car. all dressed in uniform. eyes darting until they reached me. a mine. they asked why i had so much gold on. their eyes beamed. i shared that beyond the aesthetics - copper + gold + silver communicates w| us. they are living + as are we.
