World Wet Plate Day
Tintypes - beautiful historic process that results in you being forever preserved on tin - yes, people are still making them, people like Karen Stentaford, who teaches in Sackville, NB, at Mount Allison University. In fact, she made tintypes for $25 a pop last weekend to commemorate World Wet Plate Day in Moncton, Saint John, and Halifax (May 2, 3, 4. World Wet Plate Day was officially May 3).
I just found out about this wonderful event so hopefully this will be a reminder for next year. If you go onto the wetplateday site you can see beautiful images made on May 3 from all over the world. Below, 1800s.
