Worm Of The Day: These worms from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!
(07/19/21)
Name: Worms
Debut: WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!
Happy one year birthday to WarioWare Gold!... in North America, anyway. We were a bit behind. But ANYWAY!
Have you ever SEEN fictional earthworms so perfect? I sure haven’t. Accurate color scheme, clitellum present, and no eyes in sight! Earthworm Jim is a pretty good earthworm, but his dad says we can’t be friends anymore. These worms, though? These worms are my friends, and always will be!
You can imagine my glee exactly one year ago when this game showed me a bunch of wiggling worms and implored me to “Squirm!” It’s what I was born to do. When the game starts, you’re not told which worm you’re controlling, and that’s the point! You gotta figure it out quickly, and get your worm into the puddle to make it happy!
And now, of course, it’s time to gush about worms and why they’re so wonderful! When you see a bunch of dead worms on the sidewalk after it rains, you may think they came up to escape drowning in the rain, but didn’t make it on the surface. That’s not quite the case, though! As long as there’s sufficient oxygen available, earthworms can breathe underwater. When they come up during the rain, it’s actually because that’s a rare chance for them to travel on the surface without drying out!
Also, have you ever wondered what exactly happens to all the fallen leaves on the ground? Because it’s worms! Aside from eating the organic particles in the soil, earthworms will pull dead leaves into the ground to eat them! Isn’t that wonderful? I want to see that in real life!
Anyway, here’s a picture of me in 50 years.
