that reader x chris fic omg! SO GOOD. love your writing style
Thank you! I am glad you liked it. ☺️
what should I do when I feel discouraged over other people's amazing work and/or popularity?
Everyone says don’t compare yourself to others, their costumes or popularity, but no matter how much you try, this is hard to avoid.
So, if and when you compare, COMPARE EVERYTHING.
They may have made a perfect cosplay, with the best filigree and armor you have ever seen. But what helped that? Maybe they have an inudstrial sewing machine with 8 yrs of classes under their belt. Maybe they have direct access to their own 3D printer, bandsaw, and fiberglass.
Maybe they’ve worked in a costume shop, maybe the came out of cosmetology school.
Maybe they have more money then you do to spend their budget on more expensive, durable materials.
Or maybe they just have more TIME then you do. Maybe they can devote more effort into cosplaying or social media marketing, whereas you work or have school or have other hobbies.
Talent is just an alogorithm of tons of things. Experience, resources, time, money– it’s all a factor.
If you had all the same things, chances are you’d develop the same thing. The reason why you arent making or producing the same things they do, is that you don’t have the sam situation they do.
So keep working on it. Use them as examples of goals, not as proof to stop.
Look them, compare, and then fill in the gaps to reach their level. “Oh she has this tool,” *buy that tool*
Sweet looking Emily from dishonored 2. At sacanime!
your emily jacket is perfect. did you base or alter off of a pattern?
The jacket is made from my original pattern.
BUT someone did do somewhat of a tutorial here.
And a pattern to base it from could be this one. Thats basically the lapel, just with a longer top collar and longer hem for the bottom of the jacket.
thank you for reblogging my art ❤️
Your art is literally never leaving my queue and I’m so serious it has been making me so insane since I saw it I think of it all the time I am absolutely eating it it is so grgrgahhhhh amazing :))
that last scene made me bawl like a baby. still does
i’ve never even seen the show! but considering the gifset had me with the weepy eyes (it hit ALL my trope-spots, as my tags indicated), i kinda want to now...
OPPS. I’ve been letting my queue run so long (and popping in on mobile to reblog stuff) I had missed messages. Answering all at once then:
Thank you! <3 I’ve been going through some rough times but am trying to get back into the swing of it. I haven’t touched my fic in a LONG TIME now and the longer I wait the harder it’ll be. So I’m trying to get back to it soon (I say to myself for the 8th time in as many months).
I don’t, sadly. I write pretty sporadically and don’t post any actual works to tumblr.
As of now, I have 27 chapters outlined for Recovered Melody. Ch 25 is maybe 1/3 written, but Ch 26 is finished and Ch 27 is... maybe half, depending on how open-ended I want to leave things. I have ~9500 words spread between the final 3 chapters. The big thing holding me up the boss battle. I’m... not good at those.
