Everyday questionable practices...
In a survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Deloitte and Touche USA, designed as “Deloitte & Touche USA 2007 Ethics & Workplace”, numerous unacceptable behaviours observed in the workplace are identified by respondents. Among them, we can find:
Stealing petty cash
Cheating on expense reports
Taking credit for another person’s accomplishment
Lying on time sheets about hours worked
Taking office supplies for personal use
Taking credit for another person’s accomplishment
Our opinion:
Some of these practices can directly be linked back to the biases in decision making of employees as a conformity bias. Conformity bias is formed when people take cues from those around them about the proper way to act. The conformity bias strongly pushes people to conform their judgments to the judgments of their reference group. If cheating, lying and taking credit is observed as accepted from higher ranked employees, newly recruited ones might underestimate the strength of this conformity bias and fail to realize how it can lead them to make unethical decisions in the workplace.

Benefit Workplace Market Platform Creates Worker-Tailored Health Plans
Amir Pirnia serves as the vice president of engineering at Hixme, an insurance solutions company in Los Angeles that uses innovative technologies to create worker-owned health benefit plans for larger organizations. Technologies utilized by Amir Pirnia’s company include the Benefit Workplace Market, a technology-enabled service platform for developing tailored benefit plans. The platform gives larger employers an alternative to traditional Group-Pooled health benefits through a proprietary benefit-bundling algorithm. Workers can take control of their benefits and use the algorithm to build coverage bundles that address their specific needs, including the individual needs of the family members included in their plan. Hixme’s algorithm carefully matches workers to bundles with gap insurance, qualified health, and gap financing plans. Gap financing plans through the Benefit Workplace Market platform also allow Hixme to handle negotiation, settlement, and distribution for out-of-pocket cost exposures, which are paid through payroll-based repayments over the course of 12 months. Additionally, the platform ensures that employers receive continued support for worker coverage costs.

It’s “Take Your Dog To Work Day” – EVERYDAY!
It’s not just workmen who are enjoying having their dogs with them at work. New swanky office buildings in cities throughout the UK are springing up which welcome our four-legged friends. “Office providers are going out of their way to make dogs and pets welcome – it’s a huge growth market – think pet friendly holiday homes, but for office workers”, says Desk.co.uk’s Martin Jones. “People…

Workplace comedy
I feel like the workplace has become far more prominent in recent comedy shows. Fair note this is an unsupported theory I haven't checked to see like time comparisons of scene locations or anything I'm just going with what I've seen. So here's how I see it traditionally you see comedies like friends, that's 70's show, sienfeld etc where the focus is around a living space with friends and/or family there are scenes at various people's jobs but most are in the living space. More recently I feel like you see things like the office, parks and rec, or Brooklyn 99 where the focus is more in a workplace and about colleuges. Even the big bang theory which follows the traditional style i still fell has more emphasis on their jobs then older stuff does. I mean they spend a lot of time at the university, many of the side characers are colleuges and even the original friend group all work together. I find this shift assuming it really exists interesting and I wonder if it reflects a tendcy for our culture to care more about careers then family or friend groups or at the very least emphasizes how important the work place is to most people's daily lives.
This year I changed my life – literally. I haven’t always worked at a “desk” job, but it is a lifestyle that I always viewed as desirable. If you had your own office, it was certainly an indication of success. Sitting at a desk all day would mean that your life was much easier[...]
