Working at the Avengers compound over the years often meant a lot of rebuilding. A lot of rebuilding. But to the scale they were on now ...

Government officials and private contractors were interspersed amongst the rubble that was once the home to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It was a salvage operation now, wounded and bodies had been recovered weeks ago, as well as the wreckage cleared away. Now they had to rebuild.

Because it wouldn’t be long before the Earth was in danger again. So Wilhelmina sighed, tablet in hand to review the blueprints, “Mister Rogers, I was wondering if you’d have time to go over the proposed schematics of the new compound. You lived there longer than anyone else, you would know best what the new team would need ... when we have a new team.”

                silence  fills  the  room.  if  only  for  a  moment.  it  broke  her  heart  to  hear  about  the  things  he’d  seen  —  been  unable  to  stop.  but  that  was  part  of  the  job.  a  tough  reality  sharon  had  made  peace  with  many  moons  ago.  her  hand  reaches  out,  taking  steve’s  into  her  own  for  just  a  quick  second.    ❛   i’m  so  sorry  you  had  to  see  that,  but  glad  you  told  me.  you  don’t  have  to  keep  these  things  to  yourself,  you  know  that,  right?   ❜
