Hiatus Update – 1/5/18

Hello players and lurkers, and Happy New Year! We hadn’t actually intended to post anything else after a particularly nasty anon we answered a couple weeks ago, but due to the many supportive and encouraging messages we received recently, we’ve decided to make one last update post about our hiatus. 

Unfortunately, due to long-term harassment (see this post here for reference) from a past player(s), our team will not be re-opening WOTNA. The abuse has taken a toll on all of us admins––to the point of nearly ruining RPing altogether for us––and we have all agreed we need to take an indefinite break from the tumblr RP community. We apologize to the players we promised WOTNA would definitely be returning, and we apologize to those who were looking forward to joining up once we returned. It’s incredibly heartbreaking for all of us here, but with everything that’s happened, we truly feel it’s for the best. 

However, all is not lost! With the announcement that we would not be re-opening, there has been vague discussion of some players revamping the group on their own. We do not have any details at the moment, but if anyone is interested in joining a revamp, please message us OFF ANON with an account you’d like to be added to our OOC blog. That way you can be pulled into the loop for any player made updates about a potential revamp. We will no longer be posting any public updates about our hiatus or a revamp in fear our abuser(s) is/are still stalking our main page. 

Please do NOT MESSAGE US ON A BRAND NEW ACCOUNT for this reason as well. Call us paranoid, but we’d prefer not to risk having our harasser(s) attempting to sneak in to a possible WOTNA revamp and harassing our players by using a fresh made account (we’ve seen it happen before). Please feel free to message us from a personal blog or any RP account if you can! We welcome all former players and even new potential applicants to message us if interested; we’ll still be checking in on the main every now and then. 

Finally, we’d like to thank everyone who continued to show us love and support, from our current players to past and returning players, and to those who never had the chance to join us but still loved us from afar. It has been an honor to write and RP with everyone in the WOTNA family, and we hope that we will have the chance to do so again one day. This RP has been our baby for the last two and a half years and it was all of you who made it an awesome place and the storylines special with amazing characters. We wish everyone the best of luck in their future RPing and real life endeavors, and we love you all. <3

Genderbend Fcs

Hello players! Just remember, today is the last day to send in genderbend fcs before we start our event tomorrow. If you are planning on participating regardless of whether or not your character will be changing, we need to know this and have a potential fc by 11:00PM EST TONIGHT. Our event will be starting tomorrow morning or afternoon, and we want all our players ready and prepared to start participating. Just remember, that discussing and selecting fcs over skype does NOT count. You MUST submit what genderbend fc(s) you’d like to the main blog.

For those still looking for fcs, this list has all the currently taken ones.

Hiatus Event: Genderbend

Good evening players! We’re excited to announce our first little event during our hiatus will be happening sometime this weekend, potentially starting Sunday (8/27). This event will be a genderbend, in which all or some characters will switch to the opposite biological sex for a temporary amount of time for reasons which will be explained at the start of the event. 

We do plan on this event being a worldwide event which will require participation from all players, however, players can opt to have some or all of their characters NOT swap genders if they choose.

Players who are planning on participating and having their characters swap, must message the main by 11PM EST on Saturday, August 26th with the faceclaim they would like to use. We do have a few rules regarding faceclaims for this. 

Our general faceclaim rules still apply here. Genderbend faceclaims MUST be 18+ and should not be anyone on our banned faceclaims list. 

We do recommend looking for faceclaims that are close enough or look close enough––doesn’t need to be exactly perfect!––in age and physical appearance to your current character and their faceclaim.

Players CANNOT choose a faceclaim that is already being used in game, either as a wanted or a taken faceclaim (both of the lists linked have been updated for accuracy). 

Players will have up until the event starts to change their genderbend faceclaim if they choose. Once the event starts and they’ve already used their genderbend faceclaim in play on the dash, we will no longer allow a change of face. 

When submitting a faceclaim option, make sure you have a second option, just in case! Genderbend faceclaims will be available on a first come, first serve basis. If you have your eye on a specific faceclaim for your character, make sure you message us sooner than later to get it before someone else does. If your faceclaim has been taken by someone else before you, you will have to find another faceclaim. 

We have the right to reject any genderbend faceclaims if we feel the face could be potentially very triggering or if they don’t follow the above stated rules. 

Players may start submitting faceclaims to the main ONLY (please do not message any of us on skype) now. If you need help choosing a faceclaim for a character, you may message any of us either on the main or in the skype ooc for help. If you are planning on participating but not having your character change, let us know that as well on the main, please!

Event Conclusion

Morning players! This was mentioned as well in the skype chat, but please be advised we are planning on posting our event conclusion to officially begin our hiatus sometime this Sunday (8/6). If you have not yet gotten any open starters up/closed threads started, we strongly suggest doing so sooner (preferably tonight, if possible than later). Obviously threads can continue to go on for as long as needed during the hiatus, but they MUST be started before we post our event conclusion.

Now on Temporary Hiatus

Good evening players! As you can all see, we’ve posted our season finale event conclusion detailing the aftermath of the battle. Like most of our events, while this one has ended, threads that have already been started during it can be continued for as long as needed. 

With the end of our season finale, we will now be placing WOTNA on a temporary hiatus. Please read below the cut for more information, and players, please like this post so we know it’s been read by everyone.

While we’re unsure of an exact time and date of when we will reopen WOTNA, we are definitely looking to reopen sometime in mid-December, early January. We will continue to post regular updates about our hiatus, and we should have an exact date closer to the month of December, with enough time for current and new players to submit applications before official reopening. 

When we return from hiatus, there will be a one year time skip after the events of the season finale (so we will be starting our revamp in December 2043 or January 2044, depending on when we return exactly). We will also have a slightly new plot with a new villain. We’re still working out details on all of this, especially in regards to what happens to the Rebel Army now that equal rights have been established between Metas and humans, but this information will all be provided right before reopening. 

We’ve heard back from the majority of our players on whether they will be staying and remaining active, or taking a break during the hiatus and planning to return on revamp, and almost all of them have opted to stay with us. For those continuing to RP during the hiatus, you are allowed to continue old threads and start new ones. During the hiatus, the year is still 2042, and for the sake of time sensitivity, Pansaw is mostly rebuilt after the Nephilim attack. Consider this hiatus like “filler episodes” in a season of a tv series where nothing really important to the main plot takes place. This time can be used to write out pieces of the aftermath from the season finale event, and start developing your characters for what happens to them in the year time skip. 

We also have some fun events for our players over the hiatus that we’ve had ideas on, but never used for various reasons. If there are any other ideas for light, fun, and entertaining events players may want to see over the hiatus, feel free to message us!

For those who are RPing throughout the hiatus, just keep a few things in mind: 

While we are not going to be doing weekly activity checks, we do expect some semblance of regular activity from those who said they would be active. Basically, try to come online at least once a week, and just message the admins if you’re going to be gone for longer than 2 weeks for whatever reason. You don’t need to submit an official hiatus request, just shoot us a message on the main (do not message one of us on skype) about how long you may be gone. 

Our rules still apply. Reply to open starters, no bubble RPing, no godmodding/powerplaying, no OOC drama, etc. Just because we are on a hiatus does not give anyone an excuse to break any of these rules. 

For the characters that will be staying with us, players should start thinking about where their characters will be a year from now. As we get closer to reopening, we may ask players to revamp their bios and any wanted connection bios to be updated with that information. 

If you’re planning on dropping a character before the hiatus but still have threads/plots to finish before doing so, please do so sooner than later. We’d like to have a finalized list of definite taken FCs and powers a week before we reopen.

For those players who are planning to return on the reopening and may not be active, we do ask you keep in contact with one of the admins about your membership in WOTNA. If you are definitely planning on coming back (or even just hoping to if you’re unsure), we have no problem reserving your characters and spot for you, but we need to know you’re still around. Just regularly checking in on our updates and a message once a month to check in is all we need! We do know for sure that a week before we reopen, we will be cleansing out any members who have been inactive for a while or who we have not heard from with an unfollow list. That way, new players will have a fair chance of reserving those FCs and superpowers for the first acceptances on reopening.

We’d like to thank our players for making this group so wonderful, welcoming, and exciting to be in, and we admins are incredibly grateful to have such an awesome and creative group of members. We are definitely 100% reopening WOTNA in a few months, so have no worries about this being the end! We have no plans on closing this group down as long as there is interest in it, and we look forward to the day we reopen WOTNA. That day will come sooner than you think! Until then, please make sure to keep an eye on the wotna update tag for updates.

This has been a long time coming, but with the sudden growth of their group, the Hero Squad is pleased to announce the grand opening of their new and improved secret base! An old warehouse in Wayland Hills was converted into the brand new bar/night club known as “Knight Life.” Its location is perfect for students at Pansaw University to come and enjoy a night out. The Hero Squad base is located in the basement in the back of the storage room, and only the heroes (and those trusted enough to know about it) are aware of the locked entrance to this base. The club is run primarily by the founding members of the Hero Squad, and is always taking new employees!

Dash Activity

Hey players! As I’m sure we’ve all noticed, our dash has been moving slower than usual lately, sometimes to the point of no movement. We want to reassure our players that it’s nothing to be concerned about and we are all interested and dedicated to keeping WOTNA open and running. Unfortunately, this is just a busy time of year for almost all our players and admins, especially since most of us are entering final exams and projects these upcoming weeks. Once finals are over and we all start coming off hiatus, activity should pick back up to normal speed! 

Until then, we’d really appreciate if all our members (admins included) who are still around and able to be regularly active help us out as best as they can. We wish all our players going through finals, exams, or anything else keeping them busy the best of luck and hope you’ll all take care of yourselves during this time, and that you’ll all come back to us all soon!

Here are a couple tips below the cut we’d like to offer to help keep WOTNA active during finals hell: 

1. ANSWER / POST OPEN STARTERS

This is rather obvious, and in our rules anyway. For our players around, we highly encourage stepping up the game here and answering any open starters in the tag that they can, and posting some of their own to attract more interactions and threads. Even if no one else is online at the time of the starter being posted, players can always answer it later on, and that gets more threads going, which means a little more activity. 

For posting starters, we ask that players wanting to post them really try harder to make them more engaging, and consider starters that will lead to more interesting, exciting threads that other players will want to respond to. Starters that are more plot related that lead to action may get more responses and carry out longer than a simple starter of a character sitting at a bar and talking to the stranger next to them. They don’t need to be novel length para starters––in fact, we suggest doing something short and sweet (a decent sized paragraph or two that gets the point across). With busy players means less energy, and seeing longer starters may turn tired players signing on in the evening for some RPing before bed off from replying.

2. BE MORE ASSERTIVE WITH PLOTTING

While our players are all very good with plotting with each other, we highly recommend our more active players to consider actively reaching out to others one on one for plots instead of just asking or requesting to plot with anyone in the OOC chat/blog. There’s nothing wrong with the latter method, however, it’s not very proactive in an group full of players who are currently way more busy and exhausted after long days of work and/or studying. From our own personal experience and opinions, it’s way too much work for someone to personally go to another player who made a vague request for plotting in a large group chat with no ideas mentioned. It’s also just exhausting to agree to plot with another player when both players have no idea what to do, especially when real life is extremely busy. 

Instead of asking for plots in the OOC chat, players should see who’s online at the time, and approach another player personally asking to plot. Before doing so, we suggest coming up with one or two ideas they’d like to do with their own character or just in general that could work for both characters, so that way both players can automatically enter the brainstorming phase with an idea to work with instead of going through the “Do you have any ideas?” “No, do you?” dialogue. The idea(s) doesn’t need to be thoroughly fleshed out with flow charts and organized outlines––even a vague idea is helpful enough to get those creative juices flowing for a thread! 

3. PLEASE DON’T FOCUS ON ANOTHER RP MORE THAN WOTNA

This one sounds desperate on our behalf, we know, but this one is rather important. We are aware that some of our players are in other RPs outside of WOTNA, which is absolutely allowed as long as their activity within our group doesn’t suffer. However, just because our dash is currently slow, players who are active enough to be around should try to help our dash live a little more by posting starters, answering others, and plotting with players. If you don’t have any replies to do in WOTNA because you’re waiting for busy players to respond to threads, gather more threads! Don’t just sit and wait for days for replies while being active in another RP, because eventually, that will start impacting your activity as well, and “waiting for replies” is not a valid excuse to avoid activity check each week. 

While it’s every player’s right to be in as many RPs as they want at once (WOTNA included), just remember that if you’re sitting in another RP doing replies and starters over there because “WOTNA’s dash is moving too slow”, that is counter productive for our group. Doing those things in WOTNA as well would absolutely speed up our dash.

4. PLEASE COME ONLINE IF YOU CAN!

While this is our last tip, it’s probably our most important by far. An active dash requires players who can come online to make all of the above happen, and we’d really appreciate if those who are able to come online do so. Obviously we can’t force players to come online and make their muses work for replies. We absolutely understand if players would rather stay offline and relax after studying, socialize with friends, or are just too tired and stressed to get their muses to work. Real life, work, finals, and players’ health definitely and absolutely come first before an RP. Although if any player has the muse, energy, and time to come online––even for just 15-30 minutes to do one reply––it does help a lot in regards to activity!

Taking Applications Again!

Attention players and potential new members: we are now taking new applications again!

Our event will be ending officially this Wednesday, March 29th, and we will return to our normal acceptance times and dates starting on Tuesday, April 4th around 8pm EST. We’d like to give all our members time to properly round out the event and event threads this week so that all new characters and incoming members can start off in our normal verse.

Any FCs and/or powers that were reserved prior to the start of our event will be taken off the list if the apps for them aren’t received by Saturday, April 1st. While there is a little over a week until our next acceptances, we will be holding applications starting tomorrow (Tuesday, March 28th) for that date. Our admin team will be around and checking in to assist with applications, and even send out revisions so that all apps we get during the week can possibly be prepared to be accepted immediately next Tuesday.
