HIGHLIGHTS

Most Popular Fic: That Year at Arlathan University

Solavellan | Explicit | 137,509 words This is the thing. The fic that started all this. The sheer amount of writing I've done this year is because of this goofy ass story that started from just a couple of doodles from @sky-blue-siha over on the Fen'Harem server. It was supposed to be a collection of comedy vignettes/shorts meant to be jokey and fun and light hearted. Somewhere along the way, plot bit me in the ass and it turned into all that (gesturing wildly). Some vague retelling of DAI and DATV through the lens of an AU where the Dalish got their shit together and Thedas is more or less comparable to the Modern Age by the time we get to 9:40. Literally none of that was true when I started writing it, but I poured a lot of world-building into this sucker over six months. I'm honestly really proud of it, and you can tell how much I grew as a writer by reading Chapter 1 and Chapter 26 back to back.

Shortest Completed Fic: Worst Kept Secrets (Ch. 2)

Aloth Corfiser/F!Watcher | Explicit | 3,060 words This is a weird exception because it was already a one-shot I went back and basically added smut to, lol. Hilariously the chapter of smut is longer than the original piece, making it more than half of the overall wordcount now. This is a retelling of the "confession" moment in Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire when you're romancing Aloth. Written as the climax (tee hee) of a slow burn romance that took five years to get its shit together.

Longest Completed Fic: That Year at Arlathan University

Solavellan | Explicit | 137,509 words I won't say a whole lot more here since I talked about it above already (even though I could ramble on forever about this crack universe). But this is also the longest singular piece of work I've ever written, and it's just become so every special to me. I even have a physical binding of it because @opal-apparition is a factual angelic being.

Look at how happy this thing makes me. What a gift!

In Progress Fic that I want to work on More: Raid Nights

Solavellan | Explicit | 30,031 (at time of posting) This is the current hyper-fixation. Also originally a cracked out idea who I'm like 99% sure was @elynnism's fault (also on the Fen'Harem server - this is a trend). This is resonating with people in a way I didn't fully expect and has been one of my fastest growing readerships/subscriptions. It's also becoming special to me in that it's vaguely a retelling of how I met my husband (with quite a few key changes, but a lot of broad strokes). It's kind of turning into a love letter to him, even though I know he'll never read it. 😂

Spiciest Fic: A Cascade of Kindness

Solavellan | Explicit | 78,242 words I'm giving this one to Cascade because I took everything i learned about writing smut from That Year at Arlathan University and did my best to up the ante. I think I did pretty well. There's more than one scene I can see perhaps a little too vividly in my head, lol. Also it's got a muscle mommy Lavellan throwing Solas' skinny ass around. If that doesn't sell you on it, I don't know what will.

Solavellan | Explicit | 137,509 words Prof!AU in here sweeping the awards ceremony. 😂 Really though, this wound up being a 26-chapter monstrosity that I've definitely gone back to ninja edit some typos from time to time when I do a reread, so it's definitely had the most edits on it. Raid Nights might be right behind it despite it being so much shorter right now; I do a LOT of editorial to get the formatting right for all those text boxes and character portraits.

WIP Wednesday - Raid Nights

Okay, so I’ve been tagged SO MANY times (THANK YOU @fadetouchedlurker @ingellvarphd @elfyroot @theriothag I love all of you, please never stop) but I wanted to make sure I had something halfway decent to share and work has been wanting me to actually do work.

I know, how dare they.

Ch. 6 of Raid Nights is actually pretty close to publish state, but needs to be beta’d and formatted (and the latter half takes a while). I can always tide ya’ll over with a little angsty snippet though.

‘Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.’

She refused to cry about it. He was just some dumb internet nerd. Clearly it had all just been a game to him, and when it got real, it was too much.

That’s fine. Leave it a game. Just a game.

All Ellana had done was expose herself intimately to a total stranger who didn’t even know her name. No big deal. It’s not like her tits could be out on the internet for anyone to see at this moment and she’d have no idea.

The logic side of her brain told her Solas wasn’t that kind of person, but logic was hardly in control at this point.

In the morning, after the storm had passed and power was back to normal, she couldn’t bring herself to open the chat app on her phone. It wasn’t going to help to talk about it. What exactly was she going to say? ‘Sorry about my boobs, I didn’t think they’d offend you so much.’ It was better to just forget it had ever happened.

I've been bouncing back and forth between a few WIPs, but my primary focus has been Raid Nights as I'm close to finishing a new chapter. I think. It's getting long again, ya'll.

The cat-like smile that curled on her lips belied some secret that eluded him. It made him itchy.

[Fic] Raid Nights - Ch. 6: Guild Meeting

Summary:

Two idiots Halla and Dread panic over a misunderstanding and need to sort out their issues after the guild makes an announcement.

Every time I post one of these, I read a few lines out loud to my husband, who's a pretty central inspiration for this version of Solas. While this isn't exactly how our relationship played out, there's lots of easter eggs that's pretty flagrantly "us" if you've known us for any length of time.

“I speak little more than the truth. Your interpretation of any additional intent is merely… speculation.”

“Oh, is it? Dash a girl’s dreams, why don’t you?” Halla’s voice was an exaggerated level of woe that coaxed him to lean further into this narrative. Just how far would she let him push? He desperately wanted to know; was there a limit?

“A presence in your dreams is accomplishment enough.”

“Creators, you just have to prove a point, don’t you? You better invite me to a group and get us queued or I’m going to be too much of a mess to tank.”

With a mischievous smirk, he did as he was asked, but couldn’t help getting in one last word.

“We could not have that. When I make a mess, I prefer to do so properly.”

WIP Whenever

I am having a bit of a time juggling several different projects at once, none of which are ready to publish, but all that I've been working on.

The most likely to get finished first is probably Chapter 4 of Raid Nights, though, given it seems the furthest along:

Up until the last minute before the raid began, Ellana was looking over her notes. She alt-tabbed to a web browser to go over raid guides, checked the in-game adventure journal for any additional tips, and sent several nervous whispers back and forth between herself and Varric, Josie, and Dread.

It was comforting that all of them, in their own way, responded with the same sentiment.

Donnen: You’re gonna do fine, kid. JosieFine: Don’t worry!! You got this. <3 I believe in you! Dread: I would not have asked if I did not think you more than capable of the job.

Her heart still hammered in her chest, despite the relief of knowing her friends placed their trust in her. Perhaps it was for precisely that reason. She reached a hand out and scritched the top of Inky’s head, the little cat having stretched halfway oozing out of her desktop cat bed. “I just don’t want to let them down, you know?” “Prrrrr.”

I remember the first time I main-tanked a raid. It was nerve wracking, but rewarding and I don't think I've ever quite lost that high. Please make me the center of attention, I belong there. 😂

for Raid Nights, does Ellana eventually get to tie him up? I need to know 😤

My favorite thing about writing fanfiction is responding to readers and collaborating with others. It helps push me out of my comfort zone and write or explore topics, scenes, or scenarios I might not have considered otherwise.

I am, as they say, a vanilla ass bitch in the bedroom 😆 and I’ve been none too subtle about HallaAtMe being the closest to a self-insert of any of my OCs. This whole year and return to the depths of Solavellan Hell has been extremely good for my body image, self-worth, and relationship with sexuality.

That’s a really long roundabout way to say: almost certainly, though I don’t have the specific scene or point planned yet. 😏

Raid Nights - Ch. 4: Patch Day

Summary: When a key member of the raid is unable to make it, Ellana unexpectedly finds herself promoted to a more critical role in the raid. How will she handle the new responsibility? And why does her heart keep skipping a beat every time she hears Dread’s voice?

There was something about Dread in particular that kept her attention. It was one part his voice; she was self-aware enough to admit as much. She had always had a thing for a deep, resonant voice, and his was particularly smooth. But it was also the way he treated her. In a word, it was with respect. She was expected to pull her own weight and perform just as well as any of the long-time established guild members. When she messed up, he didn’t hesitate to call her out on it the same way he would for anyone else. Her genuine interest and determination in mastering this game was constantly being rewarded by his little acknowledgments and, though it was silly, she was beginning to find she craved those compliments.

“When did I develop a praise kink, Inky?” Ellana reached out to scritch the attentive cat who was seated, rather than curled up, in her kitty bed. Inky was very particular about her bed time, and as of late, Ellana had been staying up well past it.

“Mrrrr.”

“Yeah, you’re right. I’ve always been an attention whore. Fair point.”
