⭐️ - a calm & starry night
How Old Man Joseph had managed to talk them all into camping for fun, Kakyoin and Jotaro had no idea. Kakyoin because he preferred civilization, and Jotaro because trusting his grandfather’s ideas often lead to bother and trouble.
But it was more fun than expected. After all, it couldn’t exactly be called roughing it with Joseph’s state of the art new RV and the best camping supplies money could buy. Jotaro had found finishing relaxing, even though the old man complained when he threw everything back, and Kakyoin enjoyed sketching while sitting on the edge of the dock. Polnareff complained about the bugs but was quickly enamored with taking pictures of the various flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest of America. Abdul chatted with everyone and worked his way through his book collection while he enjoyed the sunshine, and Joseph told campfire stories and basked in the knowledge that everyone was having a good time (to Jotaro’s annoyance).
Tonight, they all decided to sleep under the stars instead of in the RV, especially since Joseph said he wanted them to get “the authentic American camping experience”. No one really protested since they had all done it before, and after another round of campfire stories after dinner that night, they all grabbed their sleeping bags and settled down to sleep.
Jotaro lay on his back, staring up at the sky. With the camper lights off and the fire burning lowly, the stars were bright and spread vastly across the sky. He hadn’t seen the stars like this since Egypt, and that thought sent mixed feelings through him.
While the trip had brought him his closest friends, it had been a harrowing and traumatic experience. He had managed to make things right in the end, but…
Amidst his troubled thoughts, Star Platinum manifested next to him. A large, gloved hand came to rest over Jotaro’s heart, a reminder from his Stand that that time had passed and everything was okay now.
Jotaro sighed, meeting Star’s soft gaze. “I know. But we’re the only ones who remember.”
Star nodded solemnly, and looked at each of their friends in the circle around the fire before looking back at Jotaro. Jotaro understood. No matter what had happened before, things were fixed and they were all here now. No point in dwelling on things that weren’t true anymore.
“Stay with me?” Jotaro asked, though he knew his Stand was obliged to listen to him anyway. Star gave a small smile and laid down next to his User, and together they watched the stars until Jotaro fell asleep.
