@wrangledup (♥‘d for a bite reveal starter.)
“Well.... I was positive I was going to die, but -- I didn’t. I don’t know if there’s more to the story than that. Not that it matters now.” Expression was crystal clear, she isn’t comfortable showing people the bite. After all her time with it, and the reactions she got? The scenario creates a lot of anxiety for Ellie. She knows Joel told Tommy, but actually showing him the evidence? It felt wrong. “... Whole thing was pretty fucked up, I always wonder how many people who just gave up could’ve lived with the bite too y’know?”
@wrangledup “Ellie-” Bill’s gruff voice barked a warning at the kid next to him. “Easy-” Guns holstered, he held his arms slightly out to the side, and he reached one across the girl. To protect her? To try to simmer her down?
His eyes never left the wall. There were too many guns up there, and they had the high ground. The last thing he’d expected when he’d seen this dam was for it to be occupied, and yet here they were. “We ain’t here t’ try anything!” He called to the inhabitants, “Just tryin’ t’ pass through!”
‘ can never find the in between, it’s all or nothing. ‘

‘ …All or nothing, huh. ‘
The vagueness of thought is thick in her voice as she parrots his words, scarred brow scrunched together as she puts together pieces of a past she wasn’t too sure if she was privy to just yet. Her practiced hands run a small rag over the parts of a pistol she’s dismantled, wiping away blood and grit and everything else collected inside over the last months – YEARS, probably – of its use as she sits perched on the edge of an old dining room table.
Joel did seem like that type; she could see it. In her own way, she’d seen it too - pulling all the stops on taking her beyond the Capitol building until suddenly convinced by Tess and dead-set on getting her to their destination no matter what. Ellie knows better than to think Joel would do something half-assed — - it’s not in his nature. Either he’s in or he’s out. Maybe that’s what explains a lot of the shitty things he did in the past. ( And maybe it explains Tommy’s frustration with his own brother at times - she wasn’t going to comment on it, though. )
‘ Well — ‘ Ellie sets down a piece and picks up another, her second sigh slightly less defeated than the first, ‘ Maybe that’ll do him some good now instead of getting him into trouble. You at least know he’ll work hard, I guess. ‘
