💜 My Top 5 Books I read in 2024
1. Blood Over Brighthaven, M.L. Wang
2. The Unmaking of June Farrow, Adrienne Young
3. Yours Truly, Abby Jimenez
4. The Post-Office Girl, Stefan Zweig
5. The Mindf*ck Series, S.T. Abby
1. The Girl Who Was On Fire, edited by Leah Wilson. How did I go over a decade without realizing this collection of essays about The Hunger Games by various (and now wildly popular) authors exists!?
2. The Raven Boys, Maggie Stiefvater. I didn't get around to picking these up until the last book released, which every one my co-workers at B&N said was an underwhelming conclusion to an otherwise great series. I decided I don't care about that and I'm so glad I did because these books are wonderful.
3. These Silent Woods, Kimi Cunningham Grant. I was expecting Appalachian lore from this thriller, but what I got was a story about how far a parent will go to protect their children. I loved listening to this on audiobook, the narrator was giving Joel from The Last of Us.
4. Assistant to the Villain, Hannah Nicole Maehrer. I haven't had this much fun reading a book since The Princess Bride. Doesn't take itself too seriously and just all around a fun time. I don't even mind that book two lost the plot..
5. One thing about me is that I lost all my adoration for Harry Potter in my 20's, especially after we learned what type of person the author is, but I will read Dramione fan fiction (which I'm thrilled to know the author despises) until the day I die. I finished Regression by noctisx and Remain Nameless by HeyJude19 this year and highly recommend both. Two of the best I've read so far, and I've read a lot. lmao
1. Arcane
2. Gyeongseong Creature
3. Heartstopper
4. Gilmore Girls
5. Scrubs
