Yes mom, I like the stupid robot garbage truck with the funny face
They totally got the inspiration for live action bumblebee using tv and radio to communicate from Wreck-gar and the Junkions in G1
The Scrungly. The ADHD. I love him. (There is a whole ass explanation for his design bc it's from my AU, however, I'll control myself and not infodump abt my AU -> guy that wants to make a comic abt it and is trying self-control)
I wanna hear about ur AU !!!!!!! I have at least two AUs that I can’t decide on which I wanna actually use about the Junkions in general, I’m THE person who will care about yours, I gotta know 🥺🙏
Glad to answer!! Gonna focus on the lore related to Junkion as a planet and as a people, since this AU is EXTENSIVE af (<- guy that can't make small projects and has an unhinged amount of notes).
Basically, the Quints were the ones that first "spread" the transformers across the galaxy as cheap labor, when Cybertron first got colonized and transformed into a quintessorian banana republic. The average transformer is easy to maintain, lives a very long life and has a very small upkeep for their standpoint, which made it "efficient" to use as forced labor. Functionism was born in its first iterations from this period, btw, as an ideology shared by the Quints in which each part of a bot should be used accordingly to its function.
With that in mind, one of the first colonies they got sent in mass quantities were Junkion, a planet rich of mineral deposits, but unlivable for organics and with low quantities of matter that could be converted into energon, which made it so that for their quota on energon they had to harvest an equal amount in iron and alloys. It was also convenient to them to use the planet as a "penal colony", a "dump" for colonists that "went astray" (it could be from commiting an horrid crimes or from just having revolutionary ideals, anything that made them non-conform with the functionistic society but that wouldn't necessarily be solved with an execution or an empurata operation).
To avoid unrest, and to let themselves enjoy the best worlds, the Quints to never let subjgated species stay en masse on rich in resource planets, both as a way to maintain a high demand for their products and as way of developing a codependent economy for them. The less a bot has time to think of liberation, full on the claws of desperation and needing to reach a quota for getting basic resources, more they are prone to overwork themselves for the basic necessities.
What they didn't take in consideration was how a colonial system can't sustain itself for long, specially with the dichotomy of interests of the labor force and the colonial force. And little by little they lost most of their slaves and the settled colonies in the last 500 cybertronian cycles with different slave revolts and revolutions, being that the moment the transformers defined themselves as a space-faring race, with an "uncohesive structure" (basically, they don't have an unified trans-planetary government like the nebulans or even the Quints).
WITH THAT IN MIND, most independent colonies still needed to trade with the Quints post liberation, since their planets have little to no resources and because of the dependent economic system, not also taking in consideration how most are somewhat politically unstable with a bare bones planetary political systems. Junkion was one of these cases at first, post-colonization it was fractured in different political-cultural groups with different interests in an unstable unified senatorial government, from the older settlers with their own cultures (and a more hostile viewpoint on foreigners and a non-hostile viewpoint on the quints) to the newer ones that arrived right before the revolutions.
With this political situation, it's not a surprise that when an failed engineered quintessorian coup d'Etát threw the planet on a bitter civil war and later full on fractured small governments, losing its already not so prolific contact with Cybertron and the other planets. The war escalating to the point of basically being a bunch of isolated small factions alone fighting each other to death, or recreating small governments.
One of which is Wreck-Gar's "tribe" (didn't think on a name yet), a group who has their heritage traced basically from the first settlers and that developed itself in its own people with their own culture and language, having their history traced from the first "overseers" of metal extraction who later emancipated themselves into living and surviving in the wastelands, being skilled in harvesting inner-energon as a way to sustain themselves in emergencies and in self-repair, being somewhat self-sustainable.
They were a big shot in the wastes, with the former leader even considering developing their own ruling system while maintaining themselves "neutrals", later being basically destroyed by the encroaching Decepticon versus Autobot civil war that seeped itself into the planet, that caused the bombing of the surface of the planet by Prowl, overseeing as Sentinel's SiC, suspecting Decepticon activity on the planet.
The survivors, being lead by Wreck-Gar, Nancy and Rum-maj as a three way leadership, are now a raider and repair gang, trying to regain resources on a more devastaded planet to survive. THAT IS, until Team Rodimus ends up crashing in the planet.
