She couldn’t steady her hand — that was unnerving in itself, considering it was a necessary skill for her career. If the situation with the storm wasn’t enough to completely push her over the edge, then the shaky appendage took the cake. “Are you freakin’ kidding me?” Veronica mumbled to herself as the Merlot spilled from the edge of the glass and onto the tiled floor of her kitchen, placing the item down on the counter before frantically gathering paper towels. Despite being worried sick about her brother and half-way convinced that her husband had literally perished in the car accident she’d heard over the phone before the call went dead, she was trying to keep a strong front for Mia. However, that was proving to be far more difficult than expected — though, to be fair, who could have expected this?
After finally getting the messed cleaned up, Veronica leaned back against the counter, eyes fluttering up to meet Wren’s when she entered the room. “Y’know, it’s a bad sign when I can’t even bring myself to drink,” she scoffed at herself. “I feel sick. Like, one sip’a anything and I’m toast. Have you spoken to Jacob yet?”
