FORGOT TO REPLY TO THIS. i have 3 ryders actually (wes is 6ish yrs older than the boys, who r identical) so u get. three.

WES:

more serious: she's emotionally distant and hated the idea of potentially being sacked with her family's needs (bc she was close to the boys but did end up having to help raise them growing up and she hated having 2 b responsible) that when they got sent to earth, she would constantly disappear to live at temporary girlfriend's houses, leaving for months at a time, sending money home to help but not giving up her room or rly being present. she would pick fights with wyatt about it a lot too bc wyatt worked at a small lab running samples to help contribute but wes just did odd jobs and fucked around. a lot of emotional constipation.

the less serious: she had a kid with an asari in her matriarch yrs, didnt know it, and the kid showed up having lived aboard a space ship for 600 yrs chasing the arks lmao. she straight up slept w so many women for funsies that she didnt stop to question why one of the women SHE could get pregnant just. disappeared in her life JFJKALFKFJKS

the more serious: he has horrible parental/caretaker syndrome from fulfilling the mom and dad roles while ellen was dying and alec was working/with her at the hospital. on the upside he got good at a LOT of thinge bc of it (keeping house, cooking, cleaning, balancing bank accts, house repairs/upkeep, even growing plants!); but on the other his only rl coping skill was drinking and crying himself to sleep while alone and so coming to Andromeda he struggled to break from the support/parent role to be an actual leader. its a process.

the less serious: he straight up will not inform people of changes. in modern au his parents didnt know he was moving out until he moved out. he got a cat and his friends only knew when one went to use the bathroom and met the cat. theres private, and theres whatever the hell wren is.

srs: hes so fucking mean! hes mean esp to wes! hes not cruel hes just rude and blunt and he makes wes feel like an asshole and he specifically doesnt get along with peebee because peebs is dating wes! he has so much bitterness inside him about that! he eventually softens up when he meets his niece but, oh my god!

less srs: please tell people you are the pathfinder's twin instead of just answering "no" when they go "omg r u the pathfinder???" this is getting to be confusing for people

01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?

I don’t know why, but I got stuck on this idea of giving my Bioware characters bird names a while back. It started when I played Origins, I think, and I had Kestrel Tabris. Then I played Inquisition and I had Maiwe Lavellan, with Maiwe being Tolkien-Sindarin for ‘gull.’ So when I replayed the OT, I realized I had to name my girl after a bird, and I thought that besides the alliteration, I really enjoyed the imagery of shrikes as these fearsome little impaling birds that no one expects big things from, but are none the less complete badasses. For Wren, it was again the alliteration that appealed to me, but I also wanted her to have a softer name, something that was sort of pretty and traditional but also... not. I like how it’s almost at odds with her personality. 

07. Is there a catchphrase or sound that they tend to make a lot (likely without being aware of it)? Not so much a catchphrase as her tendency to speak like she’s barking orders all the time, even in casual conversation. It’s like she can’t turn the part of her brain that’s military off, so it leaks into even the most intimate of conversations. She also likes to use people’s names a lot when speaking to them. It’s kind of a ‘leadership 101′ thing, where people respond better to you if you call them by their first name. 

29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one? Man, choosing in game answers are so cliche but potentially sacrificing herself on the Crucible and refusing Garrus to go with her really was the ultimate sacrifice. She very nearly did die, and she had no idea that she would return alive. Still, the lives of her friends was worth so much more to her, and it was a price she was willing to pay.

22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have? HAH SO MANY. A light dusting of freckles across her cheeks. Single ear piercing in each ear. A tattoo resembling a cascading pattern of bits and bytes over her left eye, extending down her cheekbone, that she got in a fit of rebellion the very day she turned 18. Purple hair, another form of sticking it to her dad, but something she liked enough to maintain for the years to come. A band of dark eye make-up as a homage to Bladerunner and to her father, as her one happy memory with him is watching that movie. She’s certainly got a lot of look going on, but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. 

30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like? Fun fact: Wren actually studied literature in university, but her tastes are pretty... low-brow, if we’re going to be polite. She likes bad reality television from the Milky Way and film noir from decades before she was torn, before humans had even discovered all the other alien species. Pulp science fiction and aggressively vintage music (at least for her time period) complete the whole thing. Oh, and Blasto. Everything Blastio. Girl has an autographed Blasto poster she keeps locked in a safe because she doesn’t dare put it up.

What's Wren think of Vetra?

He trusts her. He sees that she’s an older sister who puts her family (Sid) first, and that even though she’s been through so much and basically lost her childhood/teen years to taking care of Sid, she doesn’t complain about what she missed - just what Sid could miss. Vetra reminds him a LOT of Nico, because they’re very similar; Nico put a lot of her life and interests on hold to help with family things, and never once complained about what she could potentially be missing out on, and even though it wasn’t as extreme as what Vetra dealt with Wren knows what Nico sacrifices a lot to keep the family together.

Also, in short, he’s proud of Vetra. She did and does so much not just for Sid but for quite literally everyone and she still keeps going even though she’s admittedly scared and tired. He wants to be a good friend for her.
