Did Wrentail ever realize how awful he was? Did the man ever have a moment where he went “hmm maybe I’m taking this too far?” Also, what’s he up to in StarClan? Or the dark forest, but I’m guessing with what that omen was intended to mean that he’s in StarClan. Is he watching Mudpaw wishing he could get revenge? Or is he spending his time in StarClan realizing that maybe if his apprentice killed him, then just maybe, he was possibly doing something wrong to cause that to even be a possibility? (doubt)

Wrentail is allergic to self-reflection; he patently refuses to even entertain the idea that he might be in the wrong. With the state of Starclan in Mudpaw's story, he isn't really capable of watching the living cats of micaclan, but you can be sure that he's spending all his time in the afterlife gaslight gatekeep girlbossing the rest of Starclan about how terrible and evil his apprentice is

okay but how did mudpaw and wrentail interact in public vs private. like how would they interact in the public eye. bc wrentail can’t really like body slam mudpaw if he’s being annoying or something so does he just act like a regular guy or what. okay what im asking is since u did a really good job writing the thing with mudpaw and the two other guys… cld u maybe write something exploring l mudpaw and wrentails relationship

Around the rest of the clan, Wrentail and Mudpaw’s whole mentorship/apprenticeship would seem a little stiff and awkward, and maybe some hostility could be detected, but it would likely be chalked up to teenage angsting on Mudpaw’s part. Wrentail wouldn’t be outright attacking Mudpaw or anything; maybe a few harsh words or pointed looks, but nothing that would seem like anything more than stern correction on Wrentail’s part.

Despite everything, Mudpaw and Wrentail were actually fairly similar in their outward demeanor; they were both fairly stoic and quiet (although Wrentail was far more visibly confident). On the surface, they might’ve even seemed like a well matched pair.

As for writing something with the two of them, I don’t have any particular ideas right now, but I will definitely post something if/when I do write again!!

Out of interest what was the Wrentail kind of genre to watch? Was it tragedy?

I can really imagine him coming back from his hard day of being the absolute worst and then sitting down and watching an over the top melodrama show like a housewife.

And then missing any and all parallels to what he is doing

At least then after he dies he will be able to appreciate the dramatic irony of everything going on

I WASNT ANTICIPATING SOMEONE GETTING HIM SO FAST 😭 I had Wrentail put down for thrillers, just cause the physicality of the whole “your heart is pounding the entire time” thing seems like it would appeal to him. That being said I 100% agree that he would be SO intrigued by by super melodramatic storylines. kinda thing where he’d walk by the tv, get interested, then stand there watching for the entire rest of the run time

what was wrentail’s childhood like?

I haven't put a ton of thought into Wren's early life yet! In my tentative timeline I've got for the series, he and Robinsong are born after Micaclan finds their new territory in the mountains, but before the discovery of the Moonmirror. I imagine the Moonmirror has been properly discovered by the time they are made warriors though. So they would have both grown up in a relatively unstable time, with the clan's leading cat Larksong not technically being a leader yet (she would've been voted into the position by this point, but not recognized by Starclan and given her nine lives yet), the territory's new borders still being contested by outside forces, and the clan as a whole still struggling to adjust to living in a place so different from their old home.

As a result, I can imagine both Wren and Robin struggling to find stability in what felt like a very unstable world. Where Robin found her feeling of safety in learning to understand the world around her, in seeking out wisdom wherever she could find it, in being prepared for what the world might throw at her, I think Wren found his feeling of safety through his own ability to influence the world around him. Seeking out fights, being confrontational, setting in stone what the world was allowed to be in his presence. He learned to exert his will over anything that might threaten him or his understanding of the way the world should be.
