Common Ground | Wren & Ela
It was unusual that Eleanor had the early shift at the station. While she never turned up outright late, she usually came earlier than she had to and left later than she needed to. Today though work was scarce and even the heap of unfinished paperwork accumulated over the weeks, where the place had seemed to burst up in flames, had diminished to a manageable pile. The brunette’s lunch so far had only been an apple and she was starving, so she clocked out on time for the first day in maybe a month.
While half-arsing a report on the vandalism of a wall with a horrendous graffiti, she had gone through her dinner options in her head. She could get some groceries to fill up her empty fridge and cupboards but if she was being completely honest with herself then she didn’t feel like pushing a cart around the supermarket and fill it with things that she might now even use before their due date anyway.
When she stepped through the door to 3Z’s the smell of warm, delicious food made her stomach growl. The need for food drove her to a seat at the back from where she could look through the entire room, where she plunged down and waited for someone to take her order. Before at work she had a quick look at the menu of the place online – everything seemed to have a website nowadays – and already decided what she would have, so she didn't have to take another peek at the card. Her watchful eyes studied the other people inside but there wasn't anyone that she recognised. That was until she looked to find a familiar young man standing in front of her, ready to take her order.
“Hello again.”
