there were a million names out there, and she had the greatest misfortune to be “huian.” but it was her name. she has grown tired of wearing other masks throughout her life - a long-dead scholar, a shiphand, a seamstress who liked to gossip - and now she is here. this is the greatest distance away from home she has ever been, without family and without a place to belong.

she is huian, and that is everything she has left.

Moodboard #1 - Project Ghost: NaNoWriMo 2018 WIP

Time: 1847 Location: Wilkes Manor, Helwick

“You’re touch is fleeting – I can never feel all of you”

Sabrina Carlyle is a stubborn and reckless woman; so she’s been told. When her father tells her that it’s about time that she marries one of the eligible men that have asked for her hand, Sabrina picks up her bags and leaves her fathers home to take up a job as a governess. 

Sabrina thinks she has successfully held off any proposals for the time being, but by accepting a job at the Wilkes Manor in the small town of Helwick she has plunged herself into a dark story she is screaming to get out of. There’s a mixture of confusion within her for the people she has come to care for and others she’s afraid to look in the eyes. She finds herself trying to figure out a possible murder story, only to uncover that everything that she thought was real and corporeal is actually dead and just a memory. 

"Project Ghost" is the working title for a work in progress. This novel is still in its outlining and world building stages and plans to be a romantic gothic novel for new adult/adult readers set in 19th Century England. "Project Ghost" will be written during the 2018 NaNoWriMo period.
