사적인 글쓰기를 위한 크롬 확장도구/크롬 앱

몇일 전 혼자있는걸 좋아하는 사람이 더 창의적이거나 집중력이 좋다는 글을 본 적이 있습니다. 논란의 여지가 많은 가설이지만 아무튼 어느정도는 혼자만의 시간을 보내는 것이 필수적이라고 생각합니다. 최소한 독서를 한다던가 프로그래밍을 한다던가 하는 몇 가지 중요한 행위는 방해받지 않는 환경에서 혼자 집중해야 가능한 일입니다. 혼자서 집중력있게 해야만 실행이 되는 일들이 그것 말고도 꽤 있을 것입니다.

그 중에 하나가 글쓰기가 아닌가 싶습니다. 우리는 의외로 컨텐츠를 많이 생산합니다. 페이스북에 인스타그램에... 그래서 아마 20년 전의 사람들보다 더 많은 컨텐츠를 만들면서 살아가고 있는지도 모릅니다. 아마도 이런 창의적인 컨텐츠가 어디서부터 비롯되는가를 생각해본다면 아마도 사적인 공간에서 탄생되리라 짐작됩니다.

혼자만의 글쓰기가 더 힘들어지는 시대지만, 그걸 조금 도와주는 도구가 있습니다. 맥북사용자라면 좋은 앱들이 많지요. 크롬앱/확장도구도 괜찮은 것들이 많습니다. 모두 장기간 써보지는 않았지만, 크롬앱/확장도구를 중심으로 무얼 써볼까 고민하면서 몇 가지를 사용해보았습니다. Writer/Writebox/LiteWrite/Memo notepad 네 가지를 사용해보았고 그 중 쓸만하다고 생각한 Writer와 Writebox를 소개합니다.

Writer

기본기능 무료. 유료 업그레이드 하면 더 많은 기능 지원. 무료로도 충분히 사용해볼만함.

처음에 까만베경에 녹색 글자때문에 당황스러움. 다행히 설정에서 바꿀 수 있음.

웹에서도 되고 앱에서도 됨

마크다운 지원

배경/글자색/폰트/line-spacing/font-size/ 등 변경가능. 

한글폰트 지원하지 않아 굴림이나 돋움체로로 표현될 수 있음. 하지만 폰트설정에서 System-sans-serif 의 폰트로 설정하면 맑은 고딕으로 설정됨.(윈도우의 경우)

글은 로컬 스토리지에 실시간으로 자동 저장되는듯. 실수로 브라우저를 꺼도 걱정없음. 이전글도 계속 저장되므로 리스트에서 불러올 수 있음.

text/pdf/live journal/wordpress/tumblr/movable type 으로 export 가능하며 text문서로 컴퓨터에 다운로드 가능함.

dropbox/google drive 등 클라우드 저장기능은 기본계정에는 없고 pro로 업그레이드하면 사용가능함. 월5불 혹은 99불로 평생사용. (https://writer.bighugelabs.com/pro) 

Pro로 업그레이드하면 매우 많은 기능이 제공됨. 사전과 연결되거나 이북으로 만들어준다거나 통계를 내주는 등의 기능이 돋보임.

지금까지 쓴 단어수/글자수 알려줌. 하지만 한글의 경우 글자 입력 하자마자 나오지는 않고 반응이 더딤. pro로 업그레이드 하면 완전 실시간으로 표시해줌.

목표치 설정할 수 있음.

타이핑시 타자기 소리 들림. 두 가지 소리중 하나 선택할 수 있고 끌수도 있음.

Writebox

무료.

좀 더 심플함.

웹/크롬 앱/iOS/안드로이드 가능. 앱은 일본계정으로만 받을 수 있는듯. 아래 설명은 크롬 앱을 기준으로 설명함.

배경/글자색/폰트/line-height/font-size/가로폭 등 설정가능.

특히 폰트는 (윈도우의 경우) 시스템에 설치된 폰트로 설정가능 한 점이 좋음. 나눔고딕 폰트가 설치되어있다면 올바른 폰트명을 적으면 나눔고딕으로 설정됨.

Writer와 마찬가지로 기본적으로 로컬 스토리지에 저장되니 실수로 브라우저 꺼도 살아있음. 그러나 따로 백업받지 않으면 새글을 쓸 경우 이전글은 날아갈 수 있으니 조심.

text/html로 다운받거나 dropbox/google drive에 저장할 수 있음.

지금까지 쓴 라인수/단어수/글자수 알려줌. 

정리

자신에게 맞는 도구를 선택하면 되겠지만, 굳이 선택에 도움을 드리자면 글을 많이 쓰고 마크다운 기능이 필요하거나 그 외에 강력한 기능들이 필요하다면 (혹은 유료로)Writer를 사용하는것도 나쁘지 않습니다. 

하지만 무료로 사용하고 싶다면 Writebox가 좋겠네요. 무료임에도 클라우드에 글들을 싱크할 수 있으니까요. 게다가 Writebox는 내 컴에 직접 설치한 폰트로 font-family 를 지정할 수 있다는 장점이 있습니다.
