Honestly, not really. Sadly, people can be pretty hurtful and personal whilst jumping to conclusions.
I’m all for discussion and dialogue in the comments section. I’ve always tried to answer comments as I appreciate the time and effort people put into them and sometimes that means I play devils advocate if they come down heavily on one ‘side’, reminding people of the other viewpoint etc. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and they should most certainly be mindful of their own feelings, triggers etc and curate their reading accordingly.
It’s made me pretty gun shy about responding to any comments and about what I am writing too —thank god the next chapter was already written and just being edited as it cut the legs off my creativity this week.
Thanks for the concern. I’m trying to focus on the constructive and positive comments now - someone gave me the advice to let the work speak for itself so I am hoping that, once it’s all done and dusted, that it will and I hope you like the fic enough to stick with it…!
