Standing across from the old brick building you felt intimidated, you wrapped your arms around yourself tighter in an attempt to keep the chilly autumn breeze from slipping further up into the sleeves of your windbreaker.
Roughly a week ago you vented your frustrations about having no money, one of your classmates and friend Jimin told you about a .. sort of underground eatery of sorts called the Blood Bath. It was a small restaurant that local vampires attended to get their fix. They were looking for more donors to hire and Jimin, who worked there told you they were hiring and gave you the heads up. Naturally, one would be a little worried about letting a vampire feed off them. you’d heard enough scary stories growing up about vampires snapping their prey's necks when they were done feeding, but that’s exactly what it was. You had met a few vampires growing up and they were wonderful people. You couldn’t imagine any of them doing such a thing.
What's the worst that could happen ?
Taking a deep breath you picked your head up, taking confident strides towards the building. You pushed the door open immediately feeling warm air wash over you. Your eyes scanned the room you stood in which seemed to be a waiting room, behind the front desk stood Jimin, dressed very different than his over sized hoodies and beanies you often saw him in during your shared literature lectures.
You walked over to the front desk where Jimin greeted you dressed in a black mesh top, his ash blonde hair slicked back and out of the way.
“You look .. very comfortable.” Jimin stated, giving you the once over, you were dressed in your windbreaker, jeans and crocs.
Let’s not even get into the worn out Sailor Moon hoodie under your windbreaker.
“Was I supposed to wear something specific?” you asked, Jimin shrugged making a face.
“I mean you look like you just came from the library doing a study session.”
“I did, how did you know?” you whispered. Jimin opened and closed his mouth like a fish gasping for water. He took a sigh before shaking his head.
“You know what never mind, you’ll be good if any of the fresh ones come in tonight. Your relaxed attire might be more refreshing instead of all of this” Jimin gestured to his clothing. “let me just show you where you’ll be this evening.” Jimin walked from behind the front desk. He took you down a hallway full of doors. He stopped in front of one of the doors closer to the end of the hallway and opened it.
“Here’s where you will be serving tonight.” he said with a smile. The room was dim lit, various cushions and pillows adorned the floor, a brown loveseat was in the corner of the room with a throw on it, tapestries hung on the wall. it seemed very cozy, a little cliche but cozy and comfortable.
“There’s some incense around here if you wanna burn some. So you can just wait here and I'll escort someone back here when they show up, there’s outlets here too if you wanna charge your phone and relax while you wait.” He stated. You walked in the room taking a seat on the couch.
“Just a few things before I go. Be careful and set boundaries. Put your guard up and don’t let it down. I’ll be careful who I send back here but keep that in mind.” Jimin winked at you and left the room. You sat on the couch, rigid with perfect posture. You couldn’t allow yourself to relax. You were nervous. You could hear soft music playing from the rooms on the side of you. What was going on in those rooms besides vampires feeding….you had no clue and wanted to remain blissfully ignorant. Your fingers drummed against your legs, pulling your phone out of your pocket you attempted scrolling through Twitter. Nothing new was popping up on your feed. You ended up settling on playing Bubble Witch.
After a few minutes and a couple of failed attempts at passing the current level of Bubble Witch you were stuck on, you heard a soft tapping at the door. The door cracked open and Jimin stuck his head in.
“I have somebody for you.” Jimin opened the door fully and from behind Jimin stood a taller boy, he looked young most likely around your age or should you say he probably was around your age due to the predicament you all were currently in. He had on sunglasses that hid his eyes and under the bridge of his eyes, a prominent nose that seemed to fit his face perfectly and smaller lips. He was dressed in all black with piercings adorning his ears.
“This is Jungkook” Jimin pushed the boy, Jungkook in front of him. Seeing him closer you could see that he was built. “he’s new and you’re new so this should be a pretty good mashup. I explained to Jungkook the rules so everything else is between the both of you. If you need help or any assistance just shout. Hopefully you won’t. I have to go. My favorite customer Taehyung showed up.”Jimin waved as he left. Jungkook stood in the middle of the floor playing with his hands.
You looked around the room awkwardly as if you were on camera waiting for a director to yell action.
“So uh are you gonna just stand there all evening or did you maybe want to take a seat?” you offered, shuffling over on the couch so you no longer sat in the middle. Jungkook tread over and sat next to you on the couch, with little to no room between the both of you. You took notice over the lack of heat radiating from him.
“You’re new to this too? Jimin said that right?” Jungkook asked.
“Yeah it’s my first night on the job I’m just trying to make some spare money.” you ended with a hum. Jungkook nodded. You saw him push his hands into his front pockets, hunching in an attempt to make himself seem smaller. You sighed in slight annoyance wanting this to be over quick.
“So have you fed from a human before?”
“Uh, n-no no. I’ve only drank from blood bags that my friend Hoseok gave me. Then the first time, after I changed from a deer. But it was too messy. I didn’t like that so that’s why I’m here.” Jungkook shrugged.
“Okay so how do you want to do this? We got my neck or maybe my wrist? I don’t know what’s better for you or what you want to try.” you asked, waving your hands around awkwardly. Jungkook opened his mouth, hesitating before answering.
“Can I try your neck? If that’s okay. I mean I know you said it was but I just-” Jungkook shook his head. “I’m sorry.”he laughed, bashfully.
“Okay. Promise you won’t roast my sweatshirt.” you said, reaching for your zipper.
“What’s wrong with it?”
“It’s a little childish but it’s my most comfortable hoodie. I didn’t think to get so dressed up for the occasion. I didn’t know what to expect.”
Jungkook paused before placing his hand over yours that rested against your leg. Rubbing his thumb along the side of your hand.
“Not to be weird or anything but it’s both our first time doing.. something like this. So it’s okay we can both take our time, figure this out and be awkward together.” He smiled softly and you immediately started cracking up. Jungkook's expression shifted into something of confusion pulling away from you.
“I’m sorry! It’s not that I’m laughing at you. The way you phrased it made it sound like we’re about to have sex or something. I’m sorry.” you said quickly straightening up. You pulled the zipper down of your windbreaker, showcasing your hoodie. You looked up. Jungkook had taken his sunglasses off revealing big, round bright red eyes. You looked deeply into them before Jungkook turned his head away from your gaze.
“I didn’t mean to scare you. I am ruining this. Should I just go back to the front desk and ask for someone else?” he asked.
“What just happened to all of that working through the awkwardness together? I just didn’t know your eyes were so uh.. bright .”
“Well I haven’t fed in like two weeks. So I’m kind of hungry.” he mumbled. Realization hit you quick.
“Well shit let’s get this show on the road. Don’t wanna make you wait any longer. I’ll just tap you if I’m feeling lightheaded.” you pulled the zipper down of your hoodie just a little bit further to reveal your neck and collarbone. Being careful of how low you pulled the zipper down remembering that you didn’t wear anything underneath. Jungkook’s half lidded eyes ran over your neck. You tilted your head to the side, allowing him more access. Your eyes darted down to him, you could see his fangs slightly ghosting above his bottom lip. It was almost like you could feel the thumping of your heart in your ears. You felt a sharp pain that quickly ebbed away. You could feel Jungkook’s lips against your neck as his tongue swiped back and forth over the bite mark and he drank more and more from your neck.
Quickly you felt yourself getting lightheaded as if someone was trying to pull your brain out of head through your ear canal. You started tapping at Jungkook’s shoulder. Before he pulled away from you rapidly wiping away the blood that was around his mouth.
“Are you okay? I didn’t drink too much, did I?” he grabbed your shoulders, holding you forward. Newly brown eyes scanning your face. Man, is he cute. You thought to yourself.
“I’m fine, nothing a turkey sandwich and a juice box can’t fix.” you joked. Jungkook didn’t seem to take to your joking mood. He still looked nervous. You patted his side. “Jungkook, I’m serious I’m fine. Are you okay?”
“I feel better. Not as hungry anymore. Maybe that’s nothing a turkey sandwich can’t fix.” he smiled.
“Maybe .. you know we should get turkey sandwiches together sometime if you want?” you asked.
“In all honesty I’m more of a ham sandwich type of guy myself.”
“Subway has ham, they also have turkey and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies too. So we both win.” you shrugged.
“How about I give you my number and we can set something up?” he asked. You nodded in agreement quickly exchanging numbers. Jungkook stood up making his way towards the door.
“Thank you for making jokes and attempting to lessen the awkwardness in the air. I appreciated it.”
“Thank you for not draining me like a capri sun.” you smiled. Jungkook threw his head back letting out a laugh.
“I’ll see you later.” he said, exiting the room. You leaned back, finally relaxing back into the couch. Rubbing your neck you thought back to yourself. This wasn’t so bad. So far one person came through and you were still completely intact. The worst case scenario didn’t occur and you ended up with a cute guys number.
summary: having a green thumb is a blessing that you didn’t seem to have, the working theory was that plants hated you and tending to your aunts garden seemed to prove that but maybe the handsome young man that keeps finding his way into your aunts garden can help you whip it back into shape

author’s notes: it’s another portion of my spooktober story collection, i was kinda of excited to write this one but still and yet very nervous as always i hope you all enjoy it :)
You trudged on your worn out boots ,letting out a sigh you ran back your plan you set up for your day. Weeding out the garden, checking on the hydrangeas, and planting the tomatoes. You thought back those three things over and over again. Feeling like you were forgetting something.
Over the few weeks you had been watching over the garden, your aunt's garden to be exact it seemed like everything managed to go straight to shit. Your aunt had fallen sick and with you two being each other’s only remaining family you went back to her house to watch over her until she got better and watching over her meant her house also… and the garden. It just seemed as though the soil underneath you hated you. Trying everything you could find on the internet, talking and singing to the plants, using special growing techniques and tools that promised growth, but nothing happened. When your aunt finally gets better and sees that her beloved garden had just about washed down the drain you didn’t know how she was gonna react.
You had to figure out something and figure it out fast.
Resting back on your knees you wiped away at the sweat above your brow. Something was wrong with the hydrangeas, something new that you couldn’t exactly place what it was. Or even where to begin attempting to figure out the problem at hand. Letting out a breath in frustration you chucked the small gardening shovel out of your hands.
“Fuck!” you shouted, shaking your head. You dropped your head, when you heard a small “ow”. You looked up and you were faced with one of the most beautiful men you had laid eyes on. You jumped up to your feet quickly, you realized the man that seemed to have a glow around him (most likely from the sun) was a few inches taller than you, soft brown eyes met your own and a cute button nose and plush full lips curved around his smile. He was a slender young man dressed in all white, the dirt from the shovel you threw caused a small brown scuff mark to appear on the toe of his fresh white shoes.
“I am so sorry I didn’t mean to hit you at all. I didn’t even know you were standing there.” you quickly apologized. The man threw his hands up, causing you to pause your rambling.
“It’s okay.” his voice came out smooth and deep. “It’s nothing that can’t wash away with a little bit of soap and water.”
“I just..I didn’t see you there. I’m getting so frustrated with these flowers and this garden I just don’t know what to do.” you rambled, dropping your hands down to your sides. The man took a step closer to you, tilting his head to the side examining the purple hydrangeas that seemed to wither further the way you stared at them.
“I’m sorry how rude of me I didn’t even introduce myself. I’m Jimin, I live next door. I’ve never seen you around here before.” he stated.
“Oh I’m just here watching over my aunt while she’s on bedrest. I have to take care of the house” you threw your hands up gesturing to the various plants that surrounded you two. “and subsequently the garden too. I’m convinced the flowers saw me coming and just decided to die on the spot just to do something different besides growing nice and pretty for my aunt.” Jimin let out a cute laugh, eyes crinkling up into crescents.
“You seem very frustrated as if the shovel against my foot wasn’t enough indicator.” Jimin said.
“I just” you sighed. “I have no clue what I’m doing and my aunt loves this garden so much that I just don't want to let it fall apart in her absence but I’ve tried everything to get this garden together.” Venting your frustrations to this stranger, Jimin came easy and made you feel better in the process. But still and yet the garden itself was a hot mess. You loved a challenge but hated feeling incompetent. Tending to the garden made you feel dumb as a rock. As if the garden was trying to communicate to you but you both were speaking two completely different languages.
“Well I have a garden of my own that I tend to and I think it’s coming along pretty well. I usually come over and sit with your aunt while she works around here. We have many of the same plants too. I can help you if you want.”Jimin offered, smiling again. You thought about it briefly. Your aunt hadn’t mentioned Jimin to you before and she normally told you all of her daily happenings and people she ran into. But Jimin seemed to have an air of comfort around him, maybe he knew what he was talking about.
“Sure, but my phone is in my pocket so no funny business or I’ll call the cops.” you stated sternly pointing a finger in Jimin’s direction. He smiled, kneeling down in the dirt in front of the hydrangea. He didn’t seem to care about his white slacks getting dirty. You watched as he examined the tools and Miracle Gro you had sitting out and then the flower. He held one of the flowers from the bush in his hands, softly rubbing his thumbs over the petals. Jimin seemed to be talking to himself as he looked the flowers over. He picked up a handful of soil, leaning in and spreading it around the bottom of the bush. Then reaching for the watering can, sprinkled water over the top. Then back to the soil at the bottom and patting it down, he sang as quietly as he seemed he could. He stood up dusting his hands clean of the soil.
“All done!” he exclaimed. You made a face of disbelief at him.
“That’s it? That’s all you’re gonna do? Really?” you put your hands on your hips.
“Didn’t you just see all that? The hydrangea is gonna prosper and grow now.” Jimin pouted.
“You didn’t do anything more than I did!” you shouted.
“Well you just wait. Give it a few hours and when you come out here in the morning, you’re gonna see all of what I did. I just have a certain touch and a language that speaks to the plants.” Jimin said.
“Jimin, I’m not gonna lie to you this seems like a crock of bullshit in all honesty.” Jimin’s lips parted.
“Alright, I see. I’ll be back in the morning. If nothing happens then nothing happens. But if my methods worked. I want a glass of iced tea.” he stated.
“A glass of iced tea?” you asked, cocking up an eyebrow. Jimin made a face as if he was thinking
“You know what?” he snapped his fingers. You waved your hand signaling for him to continue. “I want it sweetened. Extra sweet, with sugar cubes on the side. Maybe a lemon if I’m feeling a little zesty.” he said, turning to walk away.
“I mean it,” he called over his shoulder. “I’ll be back tomorrow.” You looked down at the hydrangea that remained in the same screwed up condition you found it in this morning. The nerve of that guy. Never trust a stranger, you thought to yourself, returning to examine the floral bush in front of you.
The next morning when you woke up, repeating the same routine you had been settled in for the past few weeks. You trudged out to the garden again completely ready to accept defeat against the flowers and various vegetables in the garden. Morning sun beaming down at you, forcing you to pull your floppy hat down further. Walking up to the hydrangea bush your lips parted in shock. The bush that was there yesterday, browning and withering instead, was lively, the purples and whites bright. You knelt down on hands and knees staring at the bush as if you were attempting to find a hidden camera of some sorts.
“What the fuck?” you mumbled under your breath.
“Well I see it worked.” immediately recognizing the voice from behind you belonging to Jimin. You hopped up, dusting off your overalls. Jimin stood cocking his head to the side with a slight smile on his face. The outfit he wore was different than yesterday, all blue instead of all white he wore a soft baby blue, his brown hair framing his face perfectly, parted down the middle.
“I.. I don’t know how you did it, this is crazy. What’s your secret?” you asked. Jimin threw his head back, shoulders shaking from his laughter.
“I can’t do that. There’s no way to.” Jimin smiled. You felt your brows furrow in. A look of confusion was probably making itself home on your features at this point.
“What do you mean? You literally didn’t do anything I didn’t do.” you sighed.
“That’s what it seemed like?” Jimin feigned like he was thinking. You shoved him playfully.
“I guess I owe you some iced tea.”
“With the sugar cubes on the side please.”
You and Jimin returned to your aunts back porch looking over the garden placed in the far left corner of her vast backyard. He sipped on his iced tea that turned into sweet tea after he dumped half the container of sugar cubes in it. Taking his first sip inside at the kitchen counter, relaxing into a closed eyed smile. While your face turned up in disgust at the sight.
“So what are you?” you questioned, breaking the silence. Jimin choked on his sweet tea, spluttering and ending with a cough.
“What are you talking about?” Jimin squeaked.
“You must be a botanist or something. Right?” you asked, confused about Jimin’s reaction. He hesitated before answering, as if the cogs were turning in his head he snapped his fingers.
“Right! Sorry about that, the tea went down the wrong pipe. I own a flower shop with my best friend. I just love plants so much. They’re so easy to maintain and care for. It’s so easy to pour love into them and reap the benefits of it. It’s the best way to physically see love you know?” Jimin smiled yet again. His smile was pretty, it seemed to make him glow, you almost felt like you were being spoiled by getting to see him smile so much.
“I get it. Plants seem to hate me, but I remember once when I was a child my aunt took me to these botanical gardens and the flowers were just so beautiful. I wish I had a green thumb like she did. I feel like it would better my appreciation for them.”
Jimin scoffed, placing his glass down on the bannister. “The plants don't hate you. Look I know this may sound crazy but plants sometimes can be selective to who they bloom for. You have to be able to understand them and them understand you. It’s a hard language to speak, but everyone has to learn it. You have to have a certain touch” he reached out gently grabbing your hand that was resting at your side. “You have to have the correct amount of gentleness and a subtle warmth to your hands. It’s having a good balance of peace and harmony. They have to feel that.” You looked down at your intertwined hands, a slow heat creeping up on you as you looked up catching Jimin’s glance. Your phone started ringing loudly from your pocket. Jimin broke his hand away from yours first as you stammered trying to reach for your phone. Your aunt was calling you, asking you if you could bring her a snack.
“I’m sorry” you apologized to Jimin. “I have to go real quick, my aunt wants me to get her something. I’ll be right back if you can wait.” Jimin threw his hands up, waving them.
“That’s alright. I have something I want to give to you. I’ll be back this evening with it.”
“Is it a diamond?” you joked. Jimin looked at you confused. “It must be a big diamond.”
“I can assure you it’s not a diamond. But something worth that if not more.” he grinned.
“Well now I don’t know what to expect but it must be something grand. My hopes are up now, Jimin. Just so you know.”
Instead of it being later that day Jimin ended up returning a week later, with you seeing him but without him returning with whatever it was he wanted to give. With a wheelbarrow in tow hauling a small tree in the soil. You stopped the rocking chair you sat in, jumping up out of it you ran over to Jimin, who had pulled the wheelbarrow into the right corner of the backyard.
“What is that?” you asked, walking around the wheelbarrow.
“A cherry blossom tree. I just loved them so much, I had to give you one from my shop.” he stated.
“Jimin a cherry blossom tree can’t grow here. You have to do so much work before planting them. I thought you would’ve known that. It’s gonna die.” you said with a frown.
“It’s not. I promise it won’t. Don’t worry you’ll see.” he smiled. You glanced at Jimin feeling worried. The garden had seemed to start coming back to life with Jimin’s help but the tree? Far away from the soil of the garden had you feeling anxious. You didn’t want your aunt to see the tree failing either.
“Cherry blossoms take forever to grow.” you pouted. Jimin walked over to you wrapping himself around you from behind, rocking back and forth.
“Y/n” he said in a sing-songy voice. “I said don’t worry.” You could hear the smile in his voice, it felt contagious you couldn’t stop yourself from smiling.
“What are you gonna do? Work some more of your Jimin magic?”
“Something like that.”
You sat back and watched Jimin plant the tree. Moving slowly with patience. Every so often he would hum a tune or sing a little bit as he worked until he was finished.
“So that’s it?” you asked as Jimin stepped back to look at the small two foot tree in the ground.
“That’s it!” he clapped. You looked at the tree sideways, then up at Jimin who had his arms outwards pointing at the tree, the glow that settled around him seemed a little brighter than the last time you saw him.
“I-“ you hesitated. “you’re very odd. You come around here with your crispy clean monochromatic outfits and glowing skin and gardening secrets. I don’t get you and I don’t think I will.” you sighed. Jimin looked at you searching your face for any trace of emotion. Then you broke out in a big smile that he returned.
“Actually I have a confession to make.” Jimin admitted with a drop of his shoulders.
“What’s wrong?” you perked up, sitting up straight.
“I’m gonna be going back.. into the city permanently. This might be the last time I see you. That’s why I wanted to gift you the cherry blossom tree.”
Your lips parted into a “o” shape. “You’re leaving?”
“Business is booming and Taehyung can’t handle it all alone.” Jimin spoke as if his words were rehearsed, coming off a little flat. “the tree will always give you something to remember me by.”
“Jimin” you scoffed. “if you’re just going to the city this shouldn’t be goodbye. We can visit one another and you can give me more introspective gardening tips.” Jimin shook his head.
“It’s much deeper than that. It’s far too much to explain. I’m sorry.” he said. You looked into his eyes and they seemed glassy almost as if he was gonna cry. You didn’t understand why Jimin didn’t want to visit you anymore. The city was only a 45 min drive away. It didn’t have to be permanent.
“I- Well- Maybe-“ you stammered. “I guess, Jimin. If you say so. Never say never our paths can intertwine again.” you smiled. Jimin gave you a solemn smile, before looking back to the tree.
The next morning after Jimin’s departure you woke early that morning, like there was something tugging you out of your deep sleep. You groggily headed down to the kitchen preparing your coffee. You glanced out the window briefly, something huge and pink doing a double take you looked harder out the window squinting at the sight of the cherry blossom tree Jimin planted the evening before. It now stood tall and huge, blossoms covering every branch as if it had been there for years. You ran outside to the tree, running your hands along the bark as you walked all around it. It just didn’t make any sense. It was actually quite impossible that the tree grew that rapid overnight. You were shocked, no proper thoughts coming to mind to wrap your mind around the tree. How was you gonna explain this to your aunt? You stood back from the tree before noticing a folded sheet of paper at the base. Bending over you picked it up unfolding it.

Min Yoongi was odd.
He was a lot of things. Sweet, thoughtful and caring. But odd was definitely up there in the defining traits of him as a person.
You’d coined Yoongi as an odd individual since you had met him about a year ago. He’d place an ad looking for a roommate after his previous one had moved out. He was relatively easy to live with. He did all the cleaning per his request. But was oftentimes never at the apartment. You’d see him there on Tuesdays and Saturdays and that was it. You had only seen him on Tuesdays only but that changed a month into your residence. He’d caught you sitting up on the couch late one night binging some old show that got placed on Netflix, he quietly joined you and it just picked up and the next weekend you found yourself again with Yoongi on the couch and it just continued like that for a while. Until he randomly stopped. Then you caught him on Tuesday sitting at the kitchen counter drinking black coffee when he quietly said:
“I’ll catch you this Saturday.”
So you now currently danced your way around the kitchen, preparing snacks for your Netflix binge. SNSD and SHINee blasted from your portable speaker. Wiggling around the kitchen as you popped popcorn and arranging the various bowls of snacks and candies.
You wiped sweat from off your brow, dancing in a Cinnamoroll onesie was a workout. You brought the bowls into the living room placing them on the coffee table. You sat back on the couch picking up the remote to flip through Netflix waiting for Yoongi to join you.
You sat back toggling the options between Unsolved Mysteries and The Haunting of Bly Manor. The door to Yoongi’s bedroom opened up and he came out in a Kumamon onesie. His black hair was slick down to his head and he looked like he wasn’t feeling well.
“Hey Yoongi if you want we don’t have to binge Netflix today we can just wait until next weekend if you want.” you offered. Yoongi shook his head as he leaned back slowly into the couch, wincing in pain.
“I’m fine. Just a little tired. I’ve skipped out enough with you, it's no problem.” he said, leaning his head back into the cushions.
“Are you sure?” you asked him.
“Yeah it’s fine. What did you pick?”
You hummed. “I’m thinking either Unsolved Mysteries or The Haunting of Bly Manor. But Unsolved Mysteries is longer so I’m not sure if I want to watch that.”
“Just watch The Haunting of Bly Manor. I don’t really like true crime shows that much anyways.” he said, you flipped to the option and clicked play. Looking out the corner of your eyes to check out Yoongi who had his arms tucked into his sides holding onto himself.
About three episodes in and the clock swiftly nearing midnight. You felt yourself getting sleepy but unable to fall asleep. Anytime you felt your eyes start getting heavy with sleep and ready to close Yoongi would start shifting around on the couch in an attempt to get comfortable. How many times could he do that within 15 minutes you had no clue but was slowly getting irritated with his restlessness. You leaned forward grabbing the red bull you had placed on the coffee table, cracking it open and taking a sip.
Before you could finish it you heard soft snores leaving Yoongi’s mouth. Head tilted back, the hood of his onesie covering his eyes. You laid back pulling out your phone to scroll through it, hardly paying attention to the au pair on the tv and the ghosts haunting the manor.
Another three episodes in and you found yourself nodding off again, phone weighing your hand down as you kept falling asleep and waking.
You jumped awake when you felt Yoongi jump up off the couch muttering a “Shit, I gotta leave.” and then dashing out the door not even putting on shoes, slamming the door behind him. The artwork you had framed on the walls rattling in his wake. Yoongi left before you could even get out a word of protest. Scratching your head in confusion. You found yourself trotting over to the door sliding your feet into your sneakers and following behind him.
You ran down the steps to the apartment. Yoongi was nowhere in sight in the apartment. You made it outside, the cold October air made you regret not snatching your jacket off the hook when you left. Your head whipped around until you spotted a black figure with hooded bear ears that you recognized as Yoongi running off into the trees on the side of your apartment. You sighed, you were probably about to run off into the forest to your death. You started running off following behind him.
One thing you didn’t know was that Yoongi was a very fast runner. You found your lungs burning and begging you to stop running when Yoongi came to a stop a few feet away from you, he fell to his knees breathing heavily.
“It’s nice … to know .. that running.. kicked your ass too.” you huffed out in between breaths.
Yoongi’s heavy breaths turned into groans. “Y/n you can’t be here right now. You gotta go.”
“First of all you shouldn’t even be out here you’re gonna get sick. It’s fucking cold out here.” you persisted.
“You shouldn’t be here right now” Yoongi turned around looking at you, his sharp, feline like eyes usually brown glowed a bright gold, taking your breath away. “you gotta leave before something bad happens.”
You couldn’t find the words. But you were confused and definitely binged enough supernatural teen dramas as a youth to grasp what was going on right now. “Uh Yoongi..” you trailed off.
“You gotta leave. I can’t control myself right now. I might hurt you.” Yoongi said, as you caught a glimpse of his elongated canines against his bottom lip, creating a small lisp when he spoke.
“I uh-“ you found yourself stuck, unable to move as Yoongi hunched back over, groaning in pain. “Yoongi, are you alright?” you dumbly asked, finally feeling yourself able to move foot backed behind you ready to run if necessary.
“You need to leave now!” Yoongi yelled, the snapping of bones filling the air. Your feet took off, setting you off balance as you took off stumbling before catching your balance taking you off to your apartment.
You made it back to your apartment. Slamming the door and locking it behind you. Hoping your neighbors didn’t make a noise disturbance complaint against you. You sat down at the counter throwing back the hood of your onesie. Taking deep slow breaths attempting to calm yourself down. What the fuck did you just see? That couldn’t be right. No that was the Red Bull you had that fucked you up. Yeah? That sounds about right. That’s what it had to be. No way that Yoongi was a werewolf. You laughed out loud to yourself. That had to be it. It was your fourth Red Bull after all. You’d only drunken two in a day before. Four obviously had to be testing your limits and making you hallucinate weird shit. Yeah. You thought to yourself, laying your head against the counter, drifting off to sleep contempt with the story you told yourself.
You woke up to a soft knocking at the door. Your eyes blinked open as you got up going to the door. Looking through the peephole was Yoongi, you opened the door quietly letting him in. His Kumamon onesie was tattered and ripped in some spots, his hair was all over his head making him look more disheveled than he already was . He sat at the kitchen counter and you went around to join him sitting on the other side. You sat there for a few moments waiting for the silence to break.
You cleared your throat. “So uh, last night was weird.” Yoongi coughed, eyes darting around the room.
“I’m not human.” he sighed.
“You know I was really hoping last night was a Red Bull fever dream.” you ran your hands down your face.
“I tried hiding it from you for as long as I could. It’s been.. hard? Controlling this side of me. Everything is still so new and I tried staying away but everyone needs human contact.” he whispered, the last part. Your shoulders dropped, as you felt yourself grow sad for him.
“When did this happen?” you asked.
“My old roommate bit me. Then skipped town and left. I have no one to teach me how to go through all of this. I’m just dealing with it the best way I can.” Yoongi held his head in his hands a frown painting his features.
“Well I know I don’t know anything about this at all” you said, reaching across the counter to grab his hands. “we can get through this rough patch together. We’re friends, I got your back.” you said, softly. Yoongi looked up, a subtle smile on his face.
“It gets ugly at times.” he said.
“I imagine it would. That’s okay though. But this can’t repeat itself. I don’t like being scared out of my mind. I almost dirtied up my favorite onesie.” You and Yoongi laughed.
“Things will get better from now on. Since I have your help.” he smiled.

author’s notes: story three! of spooktober 2020, I’m happy to get this out I hope you guys enjoy this one too! I really hope that everyone knows that’s a pun as the title I am once again making an attempt at humor
The cool ocean air blew your hair around your face, soft strands dusting against your forehead. You sat back against in the chair behind the captain, Seokjin. The small expedition he had brought you on led to some nice algae and plankton samples. Sadly having to leave way before the sun was due to set because of a storm, in a way you were still at peace. You could always come back out there another day. But the samples you had were more than enough for your research.
The dark, grey skies overhead seem like they got darker and darker right before your eyes. Seokjin, stood in front of you. Soft pink hair peeking out from under his bucket hat, you stood up joining him, his eyebrows creasing as he focused on the waves in front of you.
“We’ll make it back to shore okay, right?” you asked, speaking up over the loud waves that rocked the boat.
“Of course! What type of sailor would I be if I didn’t?” laughed Seokjin. He glanced over at you quickly. “I’m sorry about your samples.”
You scoffed. “It’s fine I got enough to do what I have to do. If not I can always come back. It's no biggie.”
“I know it’s just .. I feel at fault for it. I wish the weather report was more reliable.” He sighed.
The waves started picking up, instead of rocking the boat Seokjin started struggling to gain control of the helm. You rocked back and forth, side stepping one way and then side stepping the other way trying to remain firm.
“Hold on to something! Quick!” Seokjin yelled.
You started slipping around losing your footing, grabbing at anything to hold you steady. Grabbing at Seokjin, grabbing at the edge of the chair where you were sitting. Water from the waves came inside of the small bridge making it impossible to properly grasp at anything. The door to the bridge blew open, the boat rocked harshly as Seokjin tried to steer away from it. You slipped falling right on your rear end, sliding out onto the deck. Your wet hair clung right to your forehead, temporarily blinding you. You pushed it back out your face. The slam of the deck against your back had you disoriented. Looking at Seokjin you could see he was trying to tell you something but you couldn’t make it out.
Slowly you stood up, still teetering. Seokjin looked back from the waves to you, yelling more stuff you couldn’t make out. You squinted trying to read his lips. As soon as you opened your mouth to respond a huge wave came and rocked the ship, causing you to stumble and flip right over the railing.
The water was cold. Just as it was this morning when you first got in to gather samples. You flailed around trying to swim up. The waves bounced you, your head bobbed around back and forth above the waves and back under. Constantly getting in short breaths of air and then your lungs filling up with water. The boat drifted further away and the last thing you saw before your arms gave out was Seokjin jumping into the water.
You jumped awake whole body lurching forward. Taking in harsh breaths. Your head felt foggy, still dazed from going overboard. The boat was calm now. No longer rocking back and forth and no waves. The skies were still grey and ominous and you were expecting it to start pouring down again.
You don’t even know how you got back on board.
Your head whipped around the ship trying to find any signs of Seokjin. The boat didn’t feel like it was drifting, looking at the water you could tell you were moving in a certain direction. The constant stream of a jet coming from the back but yet you didn’t hear the motor. You stood up, walking to the back of the ship you were moving with caution. The closer you got you saw two hands gripping the side of the ship and what looked like a tail. A long pink tail that looked almost white in certain spots, the tail tapering off into skin. A small waist and broad shoulders. You didn’t recognize what you were seeing until your eyes reached the head of wet pink hair. You gasped loudly, stumbling backwards. When the head of pink hair looked up at you. Strong brows and round brown eyes looking at you, full lips parted in shock.
“Seokjin?” you asked, taking a step forward but jumping back when his head dipped back underwater. You were dumbfounded, looking around the ship as if someone else was there to witness this too.
“Seokjin, is that you?” you questioned. The pink head dipped back upwards. Seokjin sighed.
“This isn’t what it looks like.” he said. It coming off more of a question than a statement. You just looked at him speechless. Almost drowning must’ve really did it’s toll on you to have you hallucinating like this.
“I uh-. This must really be an odd hallucination. Unless I’m dead. Then this is just tragic.” you stated. Seokjin paused before speaking again.
“You-“ he started. “uh you’re alive.” he laughed, tail still whipping wildly behind him. Probably propelling the ship further the more you think about it.
“This is real? This is real. This can’t be. You have a tail!” you shouted.
“I know I have a tail! It was either risk you dying or outing myself. Would you rather have died?” Seokjin yelled.
“No but- How am I supposed to react to this?”
“I don’t know ? Thank you for saving my life? Something like that.”
You shook your head rubbing at your temples.
“Can I get some clarification? What’s going on? We’ve been on all these expeditions together and you mean to tell me I’ve been boating around with a mermaid and had no clue?” you said, hands sliding into the pocket of your overalls.
“In my defense I am busy trying to move the ship ya know since the engine died.” Seokjin moved one of his arms around gesturing to the ship. You looked at him stone faced waiting for him to respond.
“When you fell overboard naturally you would think I’d try to save you. But with the waves I couldn’t just swim to you.. I had to use my tail. I thought you weren’t going to wake back up until we got to the shore.” he stated. In a way you felt bad, for pressuring Seokjin to respond. But of course you’d have a million and one questions after seeing someone with a tail swimming in the water. You and Seokjin stared back and forth at each other for a moment, until the silence broke.
“So you’re not like a siren or anything are you?” you glanced down at Seokjin.
“No, I’m just a normal mermaid. Although I do know a few sirens and they’re not deviants or anything. If that’s what you are thinking.”
“So is this why you’re a sailor? To be closer to the water?” you say close to the railing where Seokjin was.
“Yeah. I left home a while ago. My parents passed and mermaids don’t really have big families like humans tend to. There wasn’t anything holding me to the ocean. I stay close for my friends they’re like brothers to me. They’re all I have now.” Seokjin said, a solemn tone overtaking his words.
“Well. Your secret's safe with me. I won’t go running around telling your secret. As much time as I spend near water they’d probably think I’ve hallucinated something.” you joked. Seokjin let out a soft laugh.
“You’d work out well on one of those Reddit forums. Talking about Bigfoot and the Lochness Monster.”
“Wait, is the Lochness Monster real?” you asked, peering at Seokjin. He looked at you, one eyebrow quirked up and lips turned.
“What do you think?” he asked. You gasped smacking your hands over your mouth.
“Are you serious?”
“Fuck no. I don’t even know where the Lochness Monster is from? Is that like Europe?”
“So you mean to tell me, you’re a sailor that doesn’t know about the Lochness Monster?”
“No, I mean to tell you I’m a mermaid who tries to stick to their side of the ocean and mind their business.” he winked at you, pushing the ship and swimming a little faster. You shook your head at him.
Can’t believe he doesn’t know if the Lochness Monster is real or fake.
As the boat got closer to shore. You found yourself looking back and forth from how closer the shore got and how Seokjin didn’t seem like he was gonna get back on it.
“Y/n, if you look at me like that one more time.” Seokjin stated, sternly.
“When are you gonna get back in? Aren’t you worried people are gonna see you?”
“I’m about to get back in right now. Do me a favor and cover your eyes.” You instantly got confused.
“Why?”
“Do you wanna see me naked then?” You felt your cheeks get warm. You shook your head before covering your eyes. You heard water splash and the slapping of Seokjin’s feet against the deck. After a few moments Seokjin told you, you were free to uncover your eyes.
Seokjin was back dressed in his rubber overalls, shirt and jacket.
“Here’s the story. Storm knocked the engine out. No nothing about you almost drowning and of course nothing about you know what.” Seokjin directed.
“Okay. Yeah of course. A secret for a secret.” you nodded.
“You might have to switch and find a new captain afterwards. I might not be able to man the ship after this I don’t want it to be awkward.” You scoffed, standing up to hit Seokjin’s arm.
“Don’t be silly. We’re in this until I retire now. I can’t go into these waters with another human. What if something like today happened again and the person I’m with can’t swim well or half as good as you. Oh no no, Kim Seokjin you’re my partner on the water now.” you smiled, holding up a pinky. Seokjin laughed, wrapping his pinky back around yours.
“If you say so. I never wanna get caught in a storm ever again. Worst experience since I had to grow legs.” Seokjin let out a sigh before fixing his hat. Your eyes threatened to bug out of your head.
“Wait since you what ?” Seokjin looked over at you, before cringing.
“Oh no you can’t say a sentence like that and then leave it at that. I need this story immediately.”

After Jungkook threw his clothes in the wash and some time had passed you all were finally making your way to the local thrift store to find clothes for Taehyung. The walk was .. a long one to say the least. Taehyung asked questions about everything he saw. Phones, clothes, hairstyles, everything. You couldn’t walk more than ten steps without him asking you or Jungkook a question it was like traveling with a toddler.
The thrift store smelled like a old woman’s closet. The air was thick and musty. You greeted the young girl behind the counter as you all made your way to the men’s section.
“Okay so here’s the goal we’re going to try to find you six outfits. That way I can pay for three and Jungkook can pay for the other three.”
“I didn’t quite agree to this.” Jungkook mumbled and you shot him a glare.
“You can find something nice and don’t forget the yellow tags are on sale.” You smiled. Taehyung smiled back at you and started to file through the clothes. There was a lot of variety in the men’s section. But Taehyung stuck to button downs and finding an occasional vest or two and some slacks.
“Taehyung” you called “are you sure you don’t want something more casual? Like a pair of jeans? Maybe a plain t shirt or something.” Taehyung paused from filing through the clothes. He let out a soft sigh.
“As much as I appreciate Jungkook lending me his clothes. I would much rather find something more appropriate for while I’m on the land.” He said, lowering his voice on the last part.
Jungkook scoffed at Taehyung’s statement. “You are lucky to dress as nice as I do, even if it’s just for a few hours. I never let anyone wear that hoodie.” It was true. Jungkook almost put up a fight coming up off that hoodie for Taehyung, who currently somehow looked strange in Jungkook’s oversized black hoodie and cargo pants complete with a chunky pair of sneakers. If it wasn’t for the blue hair Taehyung sported he would’ve almost resembled a clone of the young man.
“I just want to get into something more comfortable is all. No offense to your fashion choices.” Taehyung said.
“You can get into your grandpa clothes as soon as we wash them. There’s no way in hell your wearing second hand clothes without cleaning them. Let stinky second hand clothes. This whole store smells like white diamonds perfume.” You let out a laugh at Jungkook’s comment on the odor of the store. Taehyung looked confused.
“They can turn diamonds into perfume now?”
After leaving out of the thrift you guys made you way back to the apartment. Walking down the strip of stores along the shore line you came across an antique shop with a hiring sign in the window. As if a lightbulb came over you and Jungkook’s head are the same time, you both looked at each other with big smiles.
“I know you know nothing about antiques but maybe this could be a good place to see if you can work.” Jungkook suggested. Taehyung looked back and forth at the two of you.
“Sure, I can see if they’ll hire me.” He walked into the store quickly leaving you and Jungkook standing there. You went to follow Taehyung into the store when you felt resistance, you turned and Jungkook was holding on to your arm.
“I’m gonna be honest with you I don’t know how this is gonna work out.” He said.
“Are you scared?”
“A little bit” Jungkook rubbed the back of his neck in an attempt to get rid of some of the tension he was feeling physically. It was a trait you had seen him do many times before. “I mean he’s a stranger. But obviously he has some type of magic. Aren’t you worried too?” He asked.
You had a lot of thoughts running around your head. When you saw Taehyung standing in you and Jungkook’s kitchen you did hear the Kill Bill sirens going off in your head. But after talking to him on the walk to the thrift store you pretty much deduced he was harmless. Just very confused and you couldn’t possibly not help him out.
“I am worried, albeit just a little bit. But we can’t not help him out.” You shrugged. Jungkook dropped your arm with a sigh.
He stepped forward, holding the door open for you.“I hope you know my bat isn’t leaving the side of my bed.”
“I wouldn’t expect any less from you.” You chuckled, stepping through the threshold. Taehyung stood at the counter talking with the older man who owned the store. He seemed to be doing a good job talking because the man was all smiles and so was Taehyung. You walked up behind him ready to start talking with the older man.
“Hi! I see you’ve met my friend here.” You smiled.
“Yes! He seems wonderful. Taehyung is looking for a job. I think this might be the first time in a long time I hire someone on the spot.” Mr. Smith, the man’s name tag read said. Taehyung’s eyes blinked in shock.
“Really?” He asked.
“Indeed. I do believe so. Young man you have a certain charm about yourself. I believe you could attract some more of the younger people in here too. You’re very friendly. Hospitality is good for business. I don’t think my wife would mind you working here. The only downside is she might like you more than me.” He laughed. In the couple of years you had lived in your shared apartment. You hadn’t seen anyone else work at the antique store but the couple who owned it. Whatever Taehyung’s said to Mr. Smith before you stepped inside must’ve worked.
“When can I start?” Taehyung asked. Mr. Smith stepped back, rubbing his grey beard in thought.
“How about.. Monday? You can come in thirty minutes before we open at 8:00.” He stated. Taehyung smiled.
“I’ll be here. Bright and early. You can count on me. Thank you so much.” He said. You said a quiet thank you to Mr. Smith too. Meanwhile Jungkook stood towards the door looking out the windows at the ocean. Taehyung said his goodbye to Mr. Smith as you all left the store.
“I wish I could get a job that easy.” You sighed.
“I just went in and complimented the clocks he had in the window and then you came in and you did most of the work for me. I appreciate that.” Taehyung said.
“Can you get me a job then ?” Jungkook nudged at your arm.
You scoffed. “Oh hush.” You all continued walking down the row of stores. Before you paused at the pet store. “Wait. I have to go in here and talk to Yoongi real quick.” You said.
“Is this about the party? Can’t it wait til we get back to the apartment? I can smell Tae’s bag of musty clothes and it’s starting to bother me.” Jungkook complained. Taehyung paused.
“Tae?” He raised an eyebrow at Jungkook’s use of a nickname.
“Taehyung is a mouthful to keep saying.” Taehyung looked around as if he was pondering a thought.
“I’ve never had a nickname before. I like it.”
“Can we dwell on nicknames inside the pet store. So I can make this quick? Please and thank you.” You pulled the door open. Once inside you took a deep inhale. The smell of dog food and aquarium water filled your nose. You exhaled locking eyes with Yoongi who stood behind the counter.
“Yoongi! How’s my favorite pet shop worker doing?” Yoongi squinted and made a face at you.
“What are you doing here?” He asked.
“Well Jungkook and I were in the neighborhood and naturally we had to stop by” you lifted a hand covering the side of your mouth away from Jungkook “somebody didn’t want to stop by.” He scoffed and rolled his eyes. Taehyung wandered in the store looking at the various pets in the cages. You walked to the counter, resting your head against it to look at the sleeping brown dog that rested by Yoongi.
“You didn’t come here to visit me, you came here to see Holly. You only want me for my dog.” Yoongi dramatically placed his hands over his heart.
“Oh cut it out. I came here with good news.” You said lifting up. Yoongi raised an eyebrow at you.
“We’re throwing a party! Jungkook and I. Nothing big, nothing small. Something casual.”
“We want you there.” Jungkook called, as he stood in the doorway allowing the door to remain cracked so he could get some fresh air.
“Close the door” Yoongi snapped. “You’re gonna let all the air conditioning out!” Jungkook shook his head and stepped outside. Yoongi turned his attention back to you. He glanced over at Taehyung.
“Who’s the guy you came in with? Did you go out and get a boyfriend over night?” He asked. Your face scrunched up.
“God no. He’s Jungkook and I’s new friend. That’s Taehyung. He’s gonna be at the party too.” Yoongi scratched his head, he looked sort of puzzled.
Your head tilted to the side slightly as you looked at him. “Is something wrong?”
“I’m trying to figure out what he’s doing to the fish.” You followed Yoongi’s gaze as you turned around to look at Taehyung, who stood in front of the fish tank. All the fish that occupied it swam in a crowd in front of him as he stood there still.
“Tae?” You called, his head snapped around to you and Yoongi. The fish behind him moved slightly copying Taehyung’s small movement.
“I’m sorry. Did I take too long? Are you ready to go?” He asked. His face was void of any expression, if you didn’t know better you might’ve assumed he was upset but his resting face just seemed to be like that.
“What were you doing with the fish?” Yoongi asked. Taehyung glances at them over his shoulder and then back to the two of you.
“I was just observing them. Those are some very beautiful fish you have, sir.” You and Yoongi exchanged a expression of equal confusion. Which you brushed off, or at least attempted to.
“Okay it’s no later than 8 anytime after that is considered fashionably late.” You smiled, reaching for Taehyung’s hand and you pulled him out of the store as he eagerly waved goodbye to Yoongi. Jungkook let out a sigh of relief as you exited the store with Taehyung in tow.
After getting home and getting settled, with Taehyung washing his new clothes and the day passing. Soon the party was underway. It was a few people, mainly you and Jungkook’s mutual friends then classmates from here and there. It wasn’t too loud just a lot of chatter. You sat at the counter in the kitchen talking with Seokjin over a shared plate of chips and salsa.
Seokjin rambled to you about his classes as you scanned the crowd to spot Taehyung. It had been a while since you saw him and a feeling of worrying came over you. You tried to shake it off knowing Taehyung wasn’t gonna leave the apartment or anything and disappear. If he was uncomfortable he probably would’ve just found you or Jungkook with no problem. It wasn’t like it was a packed house. Seokjin called your name, bringing your attention back to him.
“Is everything okay? You don’t seem all the way here tonight.” He said. You hesitated before speaking, contemplating if you should pour everything out on the table to him about Taehyung. Seokjin always kind of felt like an older brother to you but there was a feeling of doubt that he probably wouldn’t believe you if you told him anyways.
“Jungkook and I have this new friend Taehyung. He’s not from around here and I’m kinda worried about how he’s doing meeting new people.” Seokjin let out a laugh, scooping up some salsa and munching on it.
“I’m sure he’ll be fine. He’s pretty handsome and that'll draw people to him.”
“You think he’s handsome?” You chuckled.
“Obviously not more than I am, but if he sticks around he might just keep me on toes.” He joked. Your eyes scanned the apartment once more before settling on Taehyung who stood in the corner talking with Jimin, you sighed in relief knowing that he was in good hands with him. You turned back to Seokjin giving him your attention.
Seokjin sighed. “I had to make this three course dinner but it was really intricate with imported ingredients. It was difficult but I think I might’ve gotten a B.”
“Sounds better than an essay I’d rather be in the kitchen.” You shrugged. You felt a tap on your shoulder and you turned around. Jungkook was standing there behind you .
“Can I talk to you real quick?” He asked you. You nodded excusing yourself away from Seokjin. You trailed behind Jungkook to his room, he closed the door behind the two of you.
“What’s wrong?”
“This whole thing with Tae has me thinking.” You waited for Jungkook to continue. You could tell he seemed anxious his hands were in his pocket, he teetered back and forth on his feet. “We have to figure out a long term goal with him. How long he’s gonna be here and things like that. The antique shop seemed to work out for him and we have to figure out sleeping arrangements and …”
“It seems like a lot?” You said quietly. Jungkook nodded.
“It won’t be that hard. I’m sure. It’ll take a minute but Taehyung seems like a hard worker. He found himself a job in a few hours right? So what’s the worst that could happen? We gotta stay optimistic. You know I couldn’t not help him.”
“I know I’m just worried.”
“I understand. We can talk to Taehyung in the morning about everything. You can lead the conversation.” You said.
“Thank you.”
You opened the door. “But let’s worry about that tomorrow. We have a party to host. It would be bad if the host weren’t in attendance.” You and Jungkook left the room putting responsibilities on the back burner until tomorrow.
I wasn’t until now that I realized that you just posed this but the Namjoon fic was awesome! I like that you didn’t portray the cliche ending that they end up together fast, placing a more accurate one. This is me having no patience requesting a sort of epilogue into what their friendship (or something more?) has developed to. Reader still owes Joon a proper kiss btw 👀
tysm 🥺 for enjoying the story I’m happy you liked it. I was worried about the development between them and then the length of it but it turned out great it seems. I did write up a follow up and I hope you enjoy that too.
A Con Artist in The Making (HTEYS drabble) 80s!namjoon x reader, 1.2k words
“Oh I wanna dance with somebody, with somebody who loves me!”
You sang to yourself as you pushed the vacuum cleaner across your living room floor. The green carpet moved back and forth as you tried to get up the mess left behind from your cousins. This year it was your households turn to host the family’s annual fourth of july celebration. Which meant your house was jam packed in and outside. Given you had a good time celebrating the holiday with your family, but they just didn’t know how. to. clean. up.
The front door was open as you allowed a breeze to come through. You continued singing to yourself taking advantage of your currently empty house. You had just gotten back from Oakpark about a few weeks ago and while you and Namjoon were supposed to hang out a few times your schedules had been conflicting.
The two of you had only seen each other a few times so far and you expecting him to come over today as long as nothing gets in the way.
Things with Namjoon had been going good. Although you were a little cautious of how fast things seemed to be going you took it in stride. Namjoon was trying to make up for lost time. Often when he arrived to your house he brought a gift with him. More than often it was a flower since big extravagant bouquets were not really your thing although Namjoon wanted to give you something to that degree. Seeing Namjoon in a different light was interesting. He had a love for nature and music. He showed you pictures of the trees and flowers he saw when he went for walks and knew a lot more about the flowers in the pictures than you did. You could listen to him talk about flowers forever.
You clicked the vacuum cleaner off, exhaling as you turned around looking over the floor in front of you. Feeling satisfied you wiped your hands along the bottom of your shirt, turning around to gather the cord to put the vacuum away. You looked up at the door yelped in surprise as you saw Namjoon standing on your porch. You fell back taking the vacuum down with you.
Namjoon held back a laugh. “Are you alright?” He asked in between breaths.
“No thanks to you! How could you scare me like that?” You stood up, walking to the door to open it. As soon as Namjoon was through the threshold you whacked his arm for scaring you.
“I wasn’t trying to scare you I was just admiring you rendition of Whitney Houston. It needs work but if we’re honest” Namjoon paused, pretending to look around before continuing. “I think you could give her a run for her money.”
You chuckled. “Only in my wildest dreams.” You wrapped the cord back up placing the vacuum in the closet. You turned around and instantly got wrapped in a tight hug by Namjoon. You wrapped your arms back around him. The two of you stood there for a moment, enjoying the comfort of being in each other’s arms.
“Namjoon?” you called him softly. He hummed. You didn’t have to look up at him to know he was smiling.
“Don’t you think it’s a bit too warm to be holding each other like this?”
“No.” he wrapped his arms around you tighter.
“Namjooooon, honey please I’m about to start sweating.” you groaned. Namjoon released you from his grip. He rested his hands on your shoulders before cupping the sides of your face. You reached up cupping the sides of his face too. You poked your thumbs at his dimples.
“You having a good time there, tiger?”
“Actually yes. Yes I am.” you laughed. You caved wrapping your arms back around him, you rubbed the side of your face against his chest.
“I thought it was too hot. Thought you wanted me to let you were gonna start sweating.”
“Oh now that I changed my mind it’s a problem? What you don’t want me to mess up your fancy Lacoste shirt?” Namjoon laughed at your statement. You stepped away from him poking at the small embroidered crocodile on his chest. Your lips went down in a small frown.
“What’s wrong?” Namjoon asked. You huffed, you could feel the tears building up in your eyes. You looked up trying to blink them away. You’d just started getting comfortable with him and you’d be lying if you said you weren’t scared of being vulnerable in front of him.
“I’m scared. I feel like I’ve been in my head so much about college. What if I fail?” you said, quietly. Namjoon reached out to hold your hands, he swung them while you looked down at his hands. You didn’t want to meet his gaze in fear of what he’d think of you crying.
“Look at me” you hesitated before tilting your head back to look at him. You looked into his eyes. In a way looking at him you felt comforted. “I’m scared too. You’re not the only one who’s scared. It’s gonna be tough sometimes and it’s gonna seem hard. But you’re strong don’t anticipate failing.”
“It’s so hard. What if I peaked in high school? I get to college and bomb I’m gonna have to pay all those loans back and I don’t even have a degree.”
“Don’t think like that. You got it, tiger. You got the best study buddy in the word. I’m just a phone call away. You’ve got nothing to worry about. You just gotta remember to breathe. I’m gonna be there to catch you if you fall.” Namjoon smiled at you. You rubbed your thumbs over his. You felt a little lighter. Feeling better after hearing words of encouragement. You wiped your eyes against you shoulder, refusing to let go of Namjoon’s hands.
“Pinky promise?” You questioned.
Namjoon let go of your hand, extending his pinky out to you.
“Pinky promise.” He said, as you wrapped your pinky around his. He kissed your intertwined pinkies. As if I lightbulb went off above you head you got an idea.
“How about we kiss each other’s pinkies? On the count of three alright?” you said, holding your laced hands up higher. Namjoon nodded.
“Okay. One… two… three.” on three you pulled your hands down. Meeting Namjoon half way as your lips softly collided. He let your hand go as he reached to you, gently placing the tips of his fingers under your chin pulling you in closer for the kiss. You let out a soft moan as he pulled away.
“You didn’t have to scam me to kissing you.” Namjoon said, you swatted at him.
“Scammed?” you gasped, overdramatically.
“I should report you to the cops. Better yet the FBI they should be aware of a con artist like you.”
“Wow you begged for a kiss and you’re gonna treat me like this is return. I’m never gonna kiss you again.” you joked.
“Never?” Namjoon asked, he gave you big puppy dog eyes.
“My God, Namjoon you are so dramatic. We’re in debt to each other at least a million kisses.”
“Actually I think it’s a million and one.” he smiled.
