Does you have one of those times where you do have a couple of solid story ideas. Yet you feel like you should stop writing for a while and put them on hold?

I do a cycle so everything remains fresh. I try to do three weeks on, with each week being a different WIP, and then I take a week off to let my well fill up again. Unless there’s a deadline, and then it’s all deadline, all the time ha ha

So in the Author’s note in chapter 1 for waydtm, you said u “started” the fic in high school and that there was a scene u wrote then. Out of curiosity, where is it? My guess is that detention scene where James kisses Lily and tells her to not go with Paxton because the title is literally “what are you doing to me?” and that kind of showed how much of an effect James had on Lily with her getting all frazzled and shit just cuz he kissed her and you said you wrote the scene for the title.

I think this makes sense.

and how tf did u remember this fic from high school? Were u thinking about it everyday and procrastinating on writing the full thing or did it just suddenly pop up in ur mind one day?

Hi! Yes! Great question. Your guess is a really good one, bc that really nails the feeling I was going for at the start.

So the scene I wrote in high school was chapter 2 when she had a sex dream with James (which also explains why the dream was so innocent, heh) where she starts off with “Why are you doing this to me?” (I guess I thought having the title was a little too on the nose here) through him turning her into a kitten 🐈

At the time, I had a huge crush on a guy who I knew was bad news (my type used to be sociopaths… it was a big problem 😑), so fought the crush really hard, but he knew and toyed the shit out of me. I had a lot of inspiration for a cat and mouse game type of relationship 😅

And no! I definitely wasn’t actively thinking about the story this whole time, but my fiancé does joke that I was able to write it all so fast because it had just been percolating in the back of my mind ever since. You know, I was writing about experiences and feelings I understood very well, so could so easily see how they’d progress. (And then added sex. So much sex 😆)

TMI Tuesday

So, I've been working almost exclusively on Dies Irae this past couple of weeks. About time too, I say, having discovered yesterday that it was about a year and a half between posting chapter 1 and chapter 2.

I'm simultaneously writing and outlining/detailing. I'll be writing, and I'll come across something that I'm not sure about, so I'll stop and go over notes, mind map the relevancies and come up with questions that lead to ideas, and layers, and dimensions that I hadn't thought of before. I'm loving the process and excited about the results.

This is very much an AU wrapped in a familiar blanket.

I hope to be able to post a new chapter once a week, (or once ever two weeks at the most).

I made cover art for the fic, which I also love. I chose to leave character picture off this one, which is not my usual choice, but felt right for this one. It was also made using a combination of Corel Paintshop Pro, and Canva - mostly because I couldn't get the text feature to work properly on PSP, but I like the result. Also, as I'm typing this, I'm wondering about making a different cover art for each act of the fic. I'll roll that one around for a while and see how I feel later.
