when she was a little girl, her mother would point at the stars and tell her that she was one of them. that she had reached in among the glittering points dotting the sky to pluck little baby girl from the galaxy to nestle her in her arms. At the time, hande did not know that she meant it, literally —-- or, as close to it as she could.
meng came into the world in the back of a van. An odd thing, really, to hear newborn screams coming from a worn down camper van in the middle of the night. She does not know much about her parents —-- only that mother died within the moments following daughter slipping from between her thighs and into proper existence and that father was left groundless. Angry. Or, so he must have been to slip into the dark with child barely wrapped to leave her at the doors of a nearby motel with a note in slashing, barely legible writing declaring her a murderer.
Congratulations J! I really love both Hande and Meng so much. Meng’s explorer and artistic spirit speaks to me and Hande trying to find her place in the world will be so fun to watch play out on the dash! Welcome to Narrative!
