I love this. When I do school visits, I talk to kids about journaling and keeping an emotion journal, as my HS English teacher told me to do. An emotion journal is one that focuses less on what happened and more on how you felt about it happening (physically and emotionally). The idea is that it gives you something to draw on as a writer when you need to "feel" that same feeling for a character. And I have to say A LOT of those experiences that I've drawn on as a writer are less than pleasant ones. Like, oh, say all of middle school and a good chunk of high school. 😉Very useful for a YA writer. So yeah, draw on those hard times. Make note of them. They will help you relate to characters and to others. And in the process, make others feel less alone when they read your words. And consider keeping an emotion journal. If nothing else, it will be very interesting reading in twenty years! 😊 #Repost @thewriterink (@get_repost) ・・・ I love this from @bymariandrew . #writerpiechart #writers #writing #writerlife #thewritinglife💻☕️ #writersofinstagram #screenwritersofinstagram #script #story #storytelling #books #author #artist #screenwriter #art #artistsofinstagram #amwriting #amcreating #writeon✌🏻️
