Do you believe in signs from the universe? I'm always on the fence when it comes to signs. The logical side of me says life just throws you coincidences some times. But the deeper, magic-loving side of me pays attention to the messages out there, waiting to be noticed. And so that brings me to Santorini. Santorini figured heavily in my first novel, and has haunted me ever since, most often at moments when I'm thinking about my writing. The place, or its namesake, pops up in my I-should-be-writing-more-thoughts, and in catalog product names. Most recently, I was told in England, that I should visit Santorini, and tonight it was the title of a Billy Collins' poem. These could all very well be happenstance, but I prefer to think of them as reminders to get back to the page. To get back to the craft. To nurture that obsessive part of my soul that simply needs to put my pencil to paper, and my fingers to the keyboard. To voice those thoughts and emotions that bubble up and won't subside until they come alive in my writing. So in that vein, I entered one of my #poemstopoliticians works in the #writersresistphl poetry reading event, for consideration. #becausesantorini and #magicalthinking and #penciltopaper #fingerstokeyboard #writersofinstagram #poetsofinstagram #cantstopwontstop #resist #shareyoursoul #bareyoursoul
