Saw your post requesting prompts, if you're still looking: Yuri P. becomes an obsessive fanboy for a series and everyone around him has to put up with it. 😀
Yes! Thank you!! Of course I had to make it voltron with Yuri bc um hello giant space cats (sorry if formatted weird I’m on mobile :/) It’s a bit all over the place and kinda short but it’s the first thing I’ve written in a while!-
“Oh my gosh Beks—“ Yuri starts out and Otabek already knows what’s coming. Yes, Yuri you love Voltron. Yes I know that Shiro’s character design reminds you of me. Yes I know your favorite paladin is Hunk because he’s funny and pilots the yellow lion and yellow is your favorite color. And yes Yuri I know that there are robotic space cats.
“Look at this picture it’s so cool!” Yuri holds his phone up to Otabek’s face to show him some fanart of the yellow lion. Personally Otabek’s favorite lion is the green one but he would never tell Yuri that. To be fair the art does look really good. “That’s really good art.” He comments as Yuri pulls his phone away and reblogs the art screaming about something in the tags.- Honestly, Voltron has taken over Yuri’s life and everyone around him might be getting just a little sick of it. Only a little. Otabek swears he’s watched the series with Yuri at least 4 times and he’s sure Yuri has watched it twice that.
Poor Viktor made the mistake of commenting on Yuri’s new phone case and was propelled into an hour long rant about how amazingly underrated Hunk is. The desperate look in Viktor’s eyes almost makes Otabek want to bail him out, but he’s heard this very same rant at least three times a day so someone else can suffer for now.
Yuri has been really distracted since he decided to press play on Netflix one day and now everyone has to deal with the consequences. He sneaks out of practice as much as he can to read fan fiction, and Yakov takes his fury out on everyone. He complains about the drama and idiocy of the fandom to Otabek every day. He can’t remember the last time they had an actual conversation about real life.
Yuuri somehow remains untouched by this but he does try to convince Viktor it’s not worth worrying over, but he fails. “Yuuri, he isn’t sleeping! Do you see the bags under his eyes! It is not good for a young boy like him, with hours of physical exertion ahead of him not to get any slee—” Otabek wonders if there is ever a point that Katsuki just tunes his husband out. He thinks he might have to ask for tips a little bit later, because if he hears about the complexity of Shiro and Keith’s relationship one more time he might chop off his ears like Van Gogh.
The only one who doesn’t really care about it is Milla, she has also been fangirling over the show but knows how to keep it under the wraps. She and Yuri talk about what they hope will happen in the next season, or cry over the same fic they are reading or something like that, everyday at lunch. Otabek has started taking lunch with Lilia instead, she doesn’t talk about Voltron, she just tells him he isn’t very good at ballet in the kindest way that she can (not very kind).
Otabek wants to talk to Yuri about how he wants to talk about other stuff, or watch something other than Voltron, but he doesn’t want to sound like he’s putting Yuri down for liking something. Yuri is Otabek’s best friend but he’s starting to think that Voltron is Yuri’s.
Otabek watches as Viktor practices his quads as Yuri comes up to stand next to him. “He is very good.” He says as he pulls his hair back. Is Otabek dreaming? Did he hear properly? Did Yuri just make a comment about something other than Voltron? “Uhhh yeah.” He says and Yuri laughs at him a little awkwardly.
“Hey um.. I guess I really haven’t been a good friend recently,” he starts and Otabek looks over at him. “I’ve only really been talking about Voltron and nothing else for a while now and I guess I’ve started to realize that I’ve been ignoring everyone else and maybe even pissing them off just a little.” Otabek raises his eyebrows in a little bit of agreement. “You’re allowed to like things Yura.” He says and the wrinkle between Yuri’s brow softens.
“You’re allowed to like things, and I get sometimes it’s hard to stop it from taking over your life.” He tells him. “Thank you, but I’m gonna try to talk about something else.” “Good.”
