oq silly prompt? Id think this would be hilarious : Robin learns the definition of 'netflix and chill'
Much to Emma’s delight and Regina’s chagrin, Henry has takenit upon himself to teach Robin the ways of the modern world. Some lessons aremore successful than others; he took to cooking over a gas stove very quickly, and if the toaster didn’t survive the first lesson, well…Regina was planning toreplace it anyway, and Robin proved to be very adept at buffing scorch marksout of her countertop. As days turn into weeks, Robin settles more comfortablyinto living in Regina’s big house; one load of pink underwear – his, mercifully, not hers – and Regina no longer fears coming home to find herentire wardrobe has been shrunk down to baby Merry’s size. She drew the line atHenry teaching Robin to drive after coming home early from the office to findthe two of them in her Mercedes. The blank look Emma had given her when she’dtold her friend the story was more than enough to tell Regina that drivinglessons weren’t entirely Henry’s idea.
It presented a bit of a moral dilemma, though; did she hashit out with Emma as Henry’s co-parent, or did she rip into Snow for notteaching her step-granddaughter proper manners and respect for the mayor’sproperty? These are problems she never could have imagined when she cast thecurse.
Still, for the most part, Robin has been incrediblyeasygoing about adapting to modern conveniences. Putting together the crib wasa bit of a sticking point, though. He’d planned to carve it by hand, just as he’ddone Roland’s, but the baby’s arrival seven months early ruined that. Reginatalked him into ordering one online from Ikea, and she’d give anything to havea photo of his face when he unpacked the boxes and tried to make heads or tailsof the instructions. Henry walked him through with the help of videos onYouTube and a deaf ear to Robin’s colorful cursing at the Allen wrench. Now Merryis happily napping in her crib, surrounded by a mural of the forest that Robinpainted on the nursery walls, as Regina watches the boys go over theirhomework.
She’s scraping crumbs from dinner into the kitchen sink whenshe feels his arms encircle her waist. “All quiet, I see,” he murmurs in herear, and she leans her body gently into his. A year ago, she never would haveconsidered leaving a job half-done, but now she takes a few moments to soak uphis warmth and breathe in the scent of pine and earth and rain.
“Mmmm,” she hums, practically purring with contentment. “Theboys are almost done with their homework, the baby is sound asleep for at leasta couple of hours, and the kitchen is almost cleaned up. I hate to jinx it, butwe might actually be able to have a quiet night tonight.”
She doesn’t have to turn around to know that he’s raised aneyebrow in response to her wistful tone. “A quiet night?” he asks. “In thatcase, I have just the thing. Henry has taught me a few tricks with hiscomputer. How does an evening of…I believe it’s called…Netflix and chill soundto you?”
Robin jumps back as Regina’s palms slam against thecountertop. “Henry Daniel Mills,” she yells. Not missing the tone of her voice,Roland ducks out of his chair and runs for his room. Her oldest, though, is notso easily frightened by her anger, and he turns to her with the same innocentlook he gave her when she discovered a two-hundred-dollar charge on her creditcard account to a comic book store.
“Netflix and chill?” she snaps. Henry’s cheeks redden, andhe bites his lip. Whether he’s trying to buy time to come up with anexplanation or trying to keep from laughing, she’s not sure. After a few beats,he pulls himself together enough to ask, “How do you know what that means?”
“What does it mean?” Robin murmurs, but she waves a hand athim to silence him. She knows full well what it means, and she’ll be only tohappy to show Robin later in the evening, but for now…for now she needs to wipethat smirk off Henry’s face.
“How do you think I know what it means?” she retorts, and alight dawns in Henry’s eyes. Emma, of course. Emma, who eggs Henry on to teachRobin to call Regina bae and tell her she’s on fleek. Emma, who told Robin thatonly basic bitches drink lattes (all right, she has to admit, it was prettyfunny to hear Robin ask Granny if she was a basic bitch. Payback for having toexplain after Granny called Robin a silver fox). Emma, who finds it hilariousto text Robin links to fart jokes and porn sites. Emma, who is comingdangerously close to getting another damn apple turnover.
“Take your books and go up to your room,” she orders. Henryobediently sweeps his books into his arms and trudges up the stairs. “And novideo games tonight!” she calls after him. She hears his door close – not slam –and she breathes a sigh of relief. Even when he’s being an irritating teenageboy, she can’t bear to have him mad at her.
“Milady?” He rests a hand on the small of her back, andRegina turns to face him. “Pleaseexplain to me what that was all about.”
“In a minute,” she says, and picks up her Blackberry.
Netflix and chill? She texts Emma. I am going to chop you upin tiny little savior pieces next time I see you, Miss Swan, and feed them tothe pigeons in the village square.
It only takes a second for Emma to reply. Don’t be ridiculous, Madame Mayor. If you’reNetflix and chilling right, both you and Robin will be thanking me.
Fat chance. Still, a promise is a promise. She takes Robinby the hand and leads him up to their bedroom. He turns on the TV and cues upNetflix, choosing Sunset Boulevard, one of her favorite movies. Long before Norma Desmond ever makes her firstappearance, the movie is forgotten, and the two of them don’t come up for airuntil Merry shrieks for her late night feeding.
The next day, Emma strolls into the diner and bumps intoRobin and Regina as they’re leaving with their basic lattes. Robin pulls Emmainto his arms and gives her a big smack on the cheek, and thanks her profusely.
