Hmmm....ok! I'll stop by again tommorrow, but right now I have to go and give other people their gems too. I won the lottery (100,000,000 gems) and I'm giving gems away to anyone I run into! - The Very Generous Anon

At first, there was no response – it seemed the words ‘lottery’ and ‘100,000,000 gems’ had rendered Moneybags temporarily speechless. But he made a miraculous recovery when the mysterious benefactor said they were leaving.

“Hold on! I’ll happily take the rest of those gems off your hands. You’d be saving yourself an extra trip that way, while also making me rich. It’s a win-win deal.”

“Guess what I just bartered for!” Looking pleased, Moneybags pulled what appeared to be a slightly dented crystal ball from inside his coat, and set it on the counter with a small flourish. “It’s only cheap knock-off, but it’s just what I need to pull off a new scam.”

“Heh heh, posing as a fortune teller, I’m going to warn customers they’ve been ‘cursed’ by a bad luck spell. I’ll conveniently have the ‘cure-all potion’ on hand, which I’ll then offer to sell at a huge markup.”

Appearing out of nowhere, the figure presented a bag. "Here is your 400 for the day, as agreed upon."

Not expecting the stranger’s sudden appearance, Moneybags jumped with a small shout, nearly dropping his bag of gems on the ground. Thankfully, he managed to catch it at the last minute before anything could spill out.

“You really should give some kind of warning before popping up like that,” he said as he straightened his coat. But with the crisis averted, the next payment easily claimed his attention, and he accepted it with obvious eagerness.

“Well, I’m happy to see you’re a man of your word. As am I -- the key is right here, safe and sound like I promised.” He patted the coat pocket he had stuffed it into reassuringly. “You picked the right bear for the job! ...Which, err, come to think of it... I don’t recall you mentioning how long you need me to guard the key for. Quite a while, I imagine?”

Or, Moneybags certainly hoped so. He was making a ton of money already thanks to this arrangement.

“Okay, but before I start the magic trick, I need you to step a little to the left,” the bear instructed. “That should give you the best possible view.” Actually, the real reason Moneybags needed Hunter to stand in that exact spot was because it would make it harder to see the lever hidden in the wall.

“Are you ready to be amazed? Let’s see, now...” Trying to think up mythical gibberish, he paused with his hand in the air. “‘...Abracadabra, jibber-jabber jeer, make this bridge behind me disappear!’” He snapped his fingers while subtly pushing the lever down with the bag of gems. The bridge retracted with a whoosh. “Ta-dah! I believe you owe me 80 gems.”

I hear you moonlight as EAs monitization manager, is that true?

“No, but that sounds like a pretty lucrative job that I might want to look into. Thanks for the suggestion!”

Moneybags had been enjoying a nice afternoon stroll through Summer Forest when he spotted an unfamiliar face. Which meant he might have found a new customer to swindle. Hopefully, they hadn’t heard any disreputable facts about him yet.

But what really caught his attention about the stranger was the staff they were carrying around. More specifically, the large, valuable looking crystal adorning the top. He couldn’t tell what it was from this distance, but he bet he could sell it for a small fortune if he managed to get his hands on it somehow.

“Good afternoon,” the bear greeted as he headed over. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before. What brings you to Avalar?”

"Good to know. Gems shall be sent every day." The being had heard of Moneybag's nature to do whatever he could to make the most money, which is why he wasn't going to say that some of the gems along with the key itself had all been enchanted so he knew their locations at all times. Sure, the spell could be used in a different way. The being assumed no one would believe the bear or would care much if anything would happen to him. Turning, the being would leave from the time period. (OC WIP)

“I look forward to tomorrow, then. It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.”

With this new source of income, he was already thinking up all the expensive purchases he would now be able to afford. Like buying that second mansion in Winter Tundra he’d been wanting for a long time.

Grinning smugly to himself after the stranger had gone, Moneybags took the key out of the bag and slipped it into an inner coat pocket for better safekeeping. He didn’t see why it was so important -- it looked like a regular, old key to him -- but all he cared about was that he was being paid to guard it.

And he’d find out tomorrow if the stranger held up their end of the bargain.

Hunter stared at the rich bear and wonders what is he up to since he loves to scam Spyro out of his gems all the time, "All right, Money Bags. What are you planning to do with that bridge?"

Was that Spyro’s gullible friend heading over here? Heh heh, scamming him was going to be a walk in the park! Or so Moneybags confidently thought.

“Hello there, Hunter. You’re actually just in time to see me try out a new magic trick. It’s called the, err… the… ‘Blink-And-You-Miss-It Vanishing Bridge!’ Now, I know what you’re thinking – it sounds utterly impossible, doesn’t it? Well, I bet you 80 gems I can make this entire bridge disappear with a single snap of my fingers.”
