Reflection Paper
Reflection Paper
For the second semester of my freshmen year, I chose to take the Writing 121 class with professor Shelby Hallenbeck. On the first day of class, I didn’t know what to expect. We played an ice-breaker game to learn more about each other, which was fun. I honestly thought this class was going to be hard since I don’t really like writing papers but it turned out to be the opposite. I only had three writing projects for the whole semester that we had to do and they were all spaced out so you had time to do each one. The first project, we had to choose two topics and write an one page paper about our opinion on the topic. The two topics I chose were the high cost in education and net neutrality. I chose these topics because they both stood out to me because I am a current college that struggles sometimes with paying for college. And net neutrality is important to me because it involves me having to pay extra money for something as little as searching something on the internet. I received a good grade on both papers but I was advised to create my second writing project based on net neutrality. The second paper was kind of challenging for me because it had to be six to eight pages long and as started before, I don’t really like papers. However, I managed to get the paper done on time and I received a nice grade for it. The third project was the easiest one because we just had to think of a creative mini game that relates to our topic for the Celebration of Student Writing event and write a paper explaining why we chose that game. For the game, I chose to do the monopoly game which will represent net neutrality. At the event, I had multiple people approached my game to play. It was exciting for me and the players because it was fun and educational. For our final project, we was instructed to do a tumblr blog posting all of our writing projects in the class, a blog describing our lives and write a reflection page about the semester. This class was the complete opposite of what I expected. It wasn’t hard at all and I believe I passed the class with an A.
What I liked most about this class is that it wasn’t a lot of work to do and we didn’t have that much homework. There isn’t nothing I dislike about this class, everything was good. There is a lot of things I learned while taking this course, such as how to expand my paper and how to keep it interesting. I am very thankful for my teacher because she was actually helpful to me and she kept the homework to a minimum.
