Summary: Your apartment happens to be right next to Bucky’s, heads only separated by a paper-thin wall, leading to you witnessing every second of his nightmares. Although, bonding over your late night conversations, you seem to forget that you never even saw him before.
I love this story, their little dynamic in the beginning is so sweet but Bucky’s fears are so heartbreaking -- it makes you really feel for him but thank goodness she doesn’t give up. They make such a sweet couple ;A; Please consider checking out Paper Walls . Also consider checking out the rest of @writingcroissant ‘s stuff as well!
I've just finished reading every single fic on your Masterlist and now I'm really sad that there's no more stuff to read. You write absolutely fantastic and I don't want to pressure you in any way of course, but I seriously need more. ♡
Thank you so much! Writing has been a pretty slow process recently, but there will be more!
I spent the last couple of days binge reading your fics and I just wanted to tell you how much I admire your work! You write absolutely fantastic, I love your stories so much I can't even decide which one is my favourite!! I admire your talent, and also the incredible detail and work you put into those fics! I hope there's a lot more amazing stuff to come! (I honestly cried reading that Russian spy series and I never EVER cry because of fics or reading in general what is going on smh)
Thank you so much, you’re so sweet! I hope there’s a lot more to come too! That series was definitely made to give you a whole whirlwind of emotions. It seems to have worked, haha.
A/n: I really don’t write unless its a writing challenge, lmao sorry. Anyway, this is for @writingcroissant ‘s 2k challenge (again, congrats) My prompt was “I’m about as seductive as a cabbage. Also s/o to @cappletini and @never-not-a-fangirl for helping me hammer out the story better. This is a fem!reader, but i also have one that is possibly gender neutral, if I can write 2 stories for the same prompt
Part 2
The phone call made you throw your phone across the room, bury your head in a pillow and scream for dear life. Any other home would’ve had its inhabitants rush to the source of noise, but since it was a Starkphone (shatterproof, even-if-the-hulk-steps-on-it-it-won’t-break kind of shatterproof) and your room was high above the common area where everyone else was…assembled, for the lack of a better word, you highly doubted anyone would’ve heard you.
As you made your way downstairs, cursing your ancestors for making such a huge family, your eyes fell on the redhead sprawled across a sofa, who looked up and smirked at you, making you feel as if a bunch of butterflies had decided your stomach was an ideal flying ground.
Damn you Nat.
“The mighty (Y/N) descends upon us. Tell us, O Honored One, what have we done to deserve this?” When the ex billionaire-playboy-genius-philanthropist wasn’t busy playing house with his wife Pepper and son Peter, he was busy puttering around the Avengers Compound and generally making a nuisance of himself. Today it seemed he had taken it upon himself to cook lunch. The others were scattered around the attached living space; Sam giggling at a text in his phone, Steve and Bucky whispering to each other and Clint on the floor for some inexplicable reason. Wanda was nowhere to be seen.
“I’m going to kill someone.” You growled at the assembled company.
“I suppose you being an Avenger has something to do with that, but pray, tell me, what’s wrong?” Stark leaned on the kitchen platform. Suddenly everyone seemed very interested to know what was it that was plaguing you.
“My family is what’s wrong. Someone or the other is getting married and wants a family dinner.”
“What’s so bad about that?” Steve enquired from the couch.
“The fact that I came out to them, a bunch of homophobic nasties and they, except for my mum, dad, and brother, effectively alienated me. And now they want me over for dinner because I’m famous.”
“Hmm.” Sam looked up from his phone. “You know what would be fun? Revenge. And the best way to do that would be to take a girl with you. To spite them.”
“What are you, 12? Besides, how would I get a date at such short notice? I’m about as seductive as a cabbage.”
“I’ll go with you.” Natasha piped up, quirking an eyebrow at you.”I’m free, besides, Wanda’s not home, and while these idiots may look great dressed as women, none of them are very good liars.”
“Hey, I kept me being Iron Man a secret!”
“For how long, a year? I’ve been in this team for 6 years. Do any of you know where I have my apartment?” At this, everyone shook their heads, while you rubbed your neck and wondered how you get through this.

“Pass the salt, dear. Your lovely mother never did learn how to salt anything.” Aunt Janet, the old hag, was still the same. Rude, mean and ancient looking. You almost punched her for demeaning your mother but still managed to pass the salt.
“So, how long have you two been, uh?” Uncle Rob gestured vaguely at you and Nat.
“3 years, but we’ve been teammates for 6” you let the redhead answer, pretty sure you would stumble over your lies.
“I see. So you never found a man?”
“I never needed one.”
“In my time, things like that would’ve gotten you in jail.” The wrinkly old hag spoke up again. You tried your best not to glare at her.
“Well I have gone to jail, but never for loving someone.” At Natasha’s words, pretty much the whole table gasped.
“Desert anyone?” you grinned and spoke in your sweetest voice.
X-X-X
“Listen up girl. You leave the Russian. She’s no good, I feel it.”
She never lets go, does she?
“Um, Aunt, I really need to go to the bathroom.” You tried to move past her, but she stopped you.
“You are an influence now on the family and I don’t want the youngsters to be like you, understand?” she gripped your arm, but years of training made you grab her wrist and twist the tiniest amount.
“Sorry, fast reflexes.” You shrugged.

Later as you stood on the porch of your childhood home, talking to your brother, you spilled the beans on the whole situation. He couldn’t stop laughing.
“Really, she’s your fake girlfriend? Damn.”
“I just…was being petty.”
“I don’t believe it. The woman looks at you like you’re the moon or something.”
“She’s good at faking stuff.”
“Trust me, I have seen fake. This ain’t it.”
You sighed and took a sip of your coffee.
Walking inside, you saw your ‘girlfriend’ talking to your mother, laughing, probably exchanging embarrassing stories of you. For not the first time, you wished this was real.
“Ready to go, babe?” you smiled at her.
She nodded and waved to your parents.
X-X-X-X
“I’m sorry Nat. You know my family is just…ugh”
“It’s alright, I knew what I was getting into. I like them.” She looked outside at the passing scenery.
“You know, I never really thanked you for doing this.” You drove into the parking lot, stopped the car and looked at her.
“For what, this dinner?” she leaned the tiniest bit forward. “For agreeing to be your fake date when I cannot stand the thought of you looking at someone else that way? Or the fact that I cannot imagine going to a dinner, seeing someone’s family unless its yours? (Y/N) I just…feel more human around you. Something I never thought I could be again.”
And maybe it was the glint in her eyes or how intoxicated you felt.
She looks at you like you’re the moon or something.
You leaned forward as well.
X-X-X-X
“Ey yo look! They finally got their heads out of their butts! Sam, you owe me!” Clint shouting viciously was enough to make you head pound.
You had spent the remainder of the night talking to Natasha, alternating with makeout sessions.
“Birdbrain, stop yelling. You do know my girlfriend is the best assassin ever?”
Thanks to the lovely @writingcroissant for taking the time to answer these! Get to know more about lovely Tori, go give her a follow and then show her some love!
These questions are from this list. You should check it out, there’s 50 questions all together and they’d be great to ask your favorite fic writer!
1) How old were you when you first starting writing fan-fiction?
Around 13 or 14 I guess
2) Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer.
I don't think I prefer any of it, I really like coming up with OC's for my very own stories but relating to fanfiction I prefer reader inserts simply because it makes the story so much more relatable for the people reading it.
5) When is your preferred time to write?
I honestly write whenever I have time, which is mostly in the afternoon or evening, sometimes in the middle of the night.
7) In your Paper Walls Series, what’s your favorite scene that you wrote?
Oh god I think my favourite scene really was the stabbing scene it was so dramatic hah!
9) Who is your favorite character to write for? Why?
Bucky. He's a deep and strong character and I think you can go in every possible direction with him, you could go full-on teeth-rotting fluff but also darkness and angst and violence. Like, Steve for example is the good guy through and though, I think it's very hard writing him any different than to what he's like in the movies, but Bucky's very open for interpretation if that makes sense. Also, he's outrageously handsome and I love myself a guy with rough edges haha.
11) How did you come up with the title for the Paper Walls Series?
I wrote the first part, where I described the walls (which the story basically is all about) as being as thin as paper and boom there was the name.
12) How did you come up with the idea for Paper Walls Series?
I read a prompt somewhere about neighbours with showers on opposite sides of a wall, singing duets because the walls are so thin and I kinda transformed that into said wall separating bedrooms and Bucky's nightmares being the thing everyone gets to hear.
13) Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?
THOUSANDS OMG with most of them I just got stuck or I can't find the motivation to complete them for whatever reason Idk dude I'm the worst I gotta finish them at some point but I just keep starting new stories instead.
14) Are there any stories that you’ve written that you’d really love to do a sequel to?
I actually thought a lot about a sequel for Paper Walls to kinda show their life together but that would just be plotless fluff because I can't let go of the story and I think stopping where it did was the best for the story instead of dragging it unnecessary long.
16) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?
@samingtonwilson all along!!! I fucking love and admire her style of writing and I hope I'll reach her level one day. Her characters are on point and everything she writes is so real and just pure gold I can't even describe it.
17) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it?
Crazed Minds - I think I overdid the angst asdfh it's terrible
18) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?
I need utter silence oh my god how can people write with music??
19) Have you ever cried whilst writing a story?
No, but I almost(!) did at the endings of Paper Walls and Five And a Half
20) Which part of your Paper Walls Series was the hardest to write?
Honestly that stupid make-out nonsense with that Chad guy - it was so hard to write ... probably because I just wanted to get it over with and get to the interesting part lol.
21) Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow?
I make an outline for series but I usually go with the flow when writing oneshots
23) Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like?
Valentine's Spirit!!!!!! It's a Jim Kirk x reader and I fucking loved it when I posted it I was so happy how it turned out and so happy how the characters turned out but it ended up getting like 50 notes lol
26) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?
I swoon every time someone tells me the characterization of the people I write about is good because ... I don't even know why that's just a huge compliment.
27) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten?
I didn't really get criticism yet tbh
28) Do you share your story ideas with anyone else or do you keep them close to your chest?
Close to my chest, very close, I swallow them.
29) Do people know you write fan-fiction?
Nope.
31) What spurs you on during the writing process?
When I write I get really excited about someone reading it and then I want to get it online as quickly as possible to see people's reactions.
33) Can you remember the first fic you read? What was it about?
The VERY first? Probably something involving One Direction asdfhj
34) If you could write only angst, fluff or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
It's really hard to decide between angst and fluff but I'd probably go with fluff ... It's just warm and fluffy and makes you feel good hah. BUT ANGST MAN idfk I'll just take both angst and fluff since I can't decide.
Why you should follow them: Do you like well written stories? Do you like humor in your stories? How about cutesy fluff? Heartbreaking angst? Give her a follow then!
How I started following them: Someone reblogged a chapter of Paper Walls and I was blown away by her great writing and the awesome story.
My Favorite Story or Series: Paper Walls; Competed, BuckyXReader. Bucky and we (the readers) share a bedroom wall that is very thin. There are some twists and turns in there that had me gasping.
Favorite Fluff: Fight Me; its a tad angsty at the beginning but it makes up for at the end with the fluff.
