Who's your favourite author and why (if you have one), and also your favourite book? x3
Okay, no judgment but my favorite book, hands down, is Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews. I'm honestly not sure what it is I love so much about this book. I read it when I was pretty young (yes, I'm well aware that it's not the sort of book you should read at a young age) and I fell in love with it. The story is twisted in every sense of the word but it always kept me on the edge of my seat and oftentimes in tears. All the books in the Dollanganger series were amazing but that one is my favorite.
V.C. Andrews is one of my favorite authors, followed extremely closely by Ellen Hopkins and J.K. Rowling.
V.C. was so good in her genre (I kept thinking about it the entire time I took Gothic Literature in my undergrad).
J.K. was my childhood. I mean, the first book came out when I was 7, I read it when I was 9, and saw the first movie when I was 10. I'm 22 now. That woman literally wrote my childhood, you know? Harry Potter and his world got me through a lot of tough times in my life so I'm forever grateful to that woman.
Ellen Hopkins just... oh goodness. Have you read any of her books? My favorite of hers has to be Impulse. Her books are so realistic and yet by being realistic, they're horribly sad. I think my favorite thing about her writing, though, has to be her writing style. It looks rather poetic but it reads like a story (which is good for me because I'm not a fan of poetry). The way the words look is beautiful, the words themselves are beautiful, but the characters and their situations are heartbreaking.
As you can see, my library can usually be found stocked full of YA novels. That and apparently women writers. I do love the classics (Faulkner, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, etc) but I guess there's just something that pulls me in to YA books written by women.
