31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN (19/31) → ᴡʀᴏɴɢ ᴛᴜʀɴ 2021.
OK, so, I'm kinda torn on this one because the first half was so cliche it had me shaking my head for 45 minutes lol but then it gets interesting. And even after that I still was like, ok, kinda cool concept but just average writing. But then the last 20 or so really kicked it up a notch and I ended up loving the ending. So...torn... The writer in me wants to give it no more credit than a 6.5 for being so obvious or 45 minutes. But the twisted little kid in me who just wants to have fun is saying this was more like a 7. (A 7 is usually my score for a movie I'd want to own but....ugh idk! Lol...) Either way, it's worth checking if you have Paramount plus. If not, I wouldn't suggest paying to see it. Just wait until it turns up somewhere you can stream it on.
Current Obsession;
I actually enjoyed Wrong Turn 2021, don’t get me wrong it’s got flaws and I wish it was more developed with some story lines but over all I enjoyed it. I think if it was a part 1 and 2 or even a limited TV series just to give it more time to go in-depth it would be fantastic.
(agony noises)
do NOT watch Wrong Turn 2021
it somehow manages to be more ableist than all its predecessors which is... truly shocking, considering the series’ entire premise
Most of the way through its piss-poor plot, the rape victim Final Girl is escaping capture by running through a tunnel full of hikers who have been forcibly blinded by the bad guys(a nordic themed cult of confederate war deserters).
For some reason all the blinded hikers are moving and writhing in strange animal ways in the dark. Before this point no one ever implied that they were anything but blind (or that there was more than one of them) so its very strange and offputting. i THINK they are eating eachother, but the eat with their mouths, like dogs, as though the act of being disabled immediately reverted them to less than human
She sees her gay male poc friend, who was thrown down here 5-6 weeks ago. He is unaware of her presence. She stares at him in horror and disgust, then... shoots him in the head
No reaching out to him, no thought to save him or send help, no ‘he asked her to end it’, nothing!
She just sees him, sees he’s blind, decides for herself that that isnt a life worth living, then shoots him in the fucking head!
5-10 minutes later a character says something to the effect of “when our leader puts you in the darkness, takes your eyes, ears, and tongue, i will rape you constantly’ but its very clumsily worded and feels like they threw it in out of nowhere to explain wtf we had seen earlier. it does NOT, this movie is cruel and badly written and the narrative makes no sense and its oddly split in half ANYWAYS so even if you are the type to be like ‘i like to watch disturbing movies’ this isnt the one!! its just bad!!!! dont fuckign watch it!!! im so fucking angry!!!
I'm watching the new Wrong Turn movie. And there's finally representation of a gay couple of color. And you know what fuckin happens? I called it. Fuckin called it. The first one to die was one of them.
So I didn’t like Wrong Turn (2021)
