Settled in the corner of a bench and trying not to be noticed, Zoey watched the other audience members as they milled about between dress ups. Chi sat beside her, nose twitching as she peered over the crowd.
Chi caught sight of a contestant, decked out in their glittery garb, and turned to glare at Zoey. She shrugged back apologetically; Chi had not yet forgiven her for missing the deadline. They’d been so busy, she’d decided not to attend, and by the time she’d realized she’d have time to compete after all, it had been too late.
At least they’d made it to the show. The dress ups had been stunning so far, and she couldn’t help being inspired by all the glitz and glamour. She pulled out a notebook and started doodling, sketching up designs that, with luck, she’d get a chance to use next year. Perhaps Chi and Dawn would forgive her before then.
As she drew, she didn’t notice Chi perking up, staring at a person who was approaching their lonely bench. The Raichu’s tail twitched and her cheeks glowed with curious electricity.
