Theo became obviously upset learning that Anita Gray was his mother, but unfortunately was now deceased...
LENA- “I am sorry...Anita was a troubled girl, from the very beginning. After she gave birth to you, she became pregnant again about three years later. Again, my mother intervened and tried to have the baby put up for adoption. However, Anita took off with the baby and the baby’s father. We didn’t know where she was for some time. She came back to my mother’s about a year later and was strung out on drugs and my mother then put the little girl up for adoption.”
THEO- “So I have a sister?”
LENA- “Yes, she would be about twelve or thirteen by now. A family from Newcrest adopted her is my understanding. Again, I knew nothing of any of this, until my mother’s death and her attorney revealed it to me. Mother did provide for her and sent the family money each month, as she did the home where you live.”
EDWINA- “I was not aware of any donation that came in to the home, and I have been the manager for sometime now.”
LENA- “According to mother’s attorney it was sent monthly in care of Charles Penngrove.”
EDWINA- “Ah, figures. Unfortunately it never made it’s way to us, as Charles sold the home to the state.”
LENA- “Oh my...well I can change that, and make it up to the home, and to Theo.”
THEO- “So, my mother...how did she...”
LENA- “A drug overdose. I came home for the funeral, she tried to reach out to me, but it never reached me until it was too late. I can take you to where she is buried. It’s quite beautiful and peaceful there. The only true good thing my mother ever did for her.”
LENA- “My mother was not sure exactly who the father was, but she was almost positive his name was Lothario. He wasn’t much older than Anita, maybe sixteen at the time. And I am sure he never knew anything about you.”
THEO- “So I am not Greek?”
LENA- “Oh, yes, but not through your birth father. My mother’s father was born in Greece, his name was Octavias Theodopolis, that was were your name came from.
