Today have a snippet from later in the timeline of the Jedi Steve AU, which just broke 13000 words *facepalm*:

"You sure you're all right, Steve?" "Yeah, I—" He shook his head. "I can't help thinking maybe I knew him. Before." "Vader?" "No, the Winter Soldier." "Maybe you did, maybe you didn't," Natasha said. "You can't let that bother you in the field." "I know." "I know you do." She gave him a small, wry smile. "We got some new equipment in while you've been on the diplomatic circuit. I think you're going to enjoy it." Her smile vanished. "May the Force be with you, Steve." She cut the connection before he could respond in kind.

The Sunday six, from my Jedi!Steve AU, which I’ve just started working on again:

"This is Colonel Phillips and Special Agent Carter," Master Windu said, indicating the two naval officers. "They're with an arm of the Republic Navy called the Strategic Scientific Reserve, and they've requested a Jedi to partner with them on a mission to Ringo Vinda."

"Think, we do, that suit you, this mission will."

Steve fought to keep his excitement out of his expression. "I can be ready to leave in thirty minutes," he said.

"Brief you, Agent Carter must, before rushing off you go," Yoda chided.

"Of course," Steve said. "Of course."

As an aside, Yoda’s dialogue is hard.

This is my Ultimate Peter Parker wakes up in the DCU after he dies crossover! Here’s a snippet:

He still has someweb fluid in his shooters, so he's pretty sure he can get home. If hecould figure out which way home is. Nothing looks any more familiarfrom up high. He finds a convenient gargoyle and tries to get the layof the land. Everything is gray and gross, and even the clouds lookkind of dirty, like there are still smokestacks puffing away at them.He can see water from up here, too, but though the city skylineshould be right there on the other side of theriver, he just sees more unfamiliar buildings and a bridge that lookslike the Brooklyn Bridge, if the Brooklyn Bridge was wearing a Halloweencostume and looked creepy as hell.

"Aw, man,"he says. "Aunt May is gonna kill me."

He straightens upfrom his crouch, thankful that he's able to stick to even wetsurfaces, because otherwise he'd go slip-sliding into a splat whenBatman lands next to him and says, "Hey, kid, whatever it is,it's not worth killing yourself over."

Peter can't help butlet out an excited squeak. "Batman!" Then he frowns. "NickFury said you weren't real!"

Please tell me about Eight the Hard Way!

This started as a yuletide treat I wasn’t able to finish in time - it’s an Ocean’s 8 Amita/Daphne story where Daphne is trying to date Amita but Amita is not picking up on the hints! Daphne keeps sweeping away for romantic evenings and shopping trips and Amita is like, “Oh she just likes having a girlfriend” without realizing that Daphne wants her AS A GIRLFRIEND. So it’s supposed to be 7 brief snippets where this happens and then finally in the 8th one, the penny drops and Amita gets it! Possibly because Daphne finally stops trying to buy her love and just kisses her! (”Eight the hard way” or “hard 8″ is a craps term for rolling two fours to make 8.)

I hear the Sunday Six is a thing again (still?) and I’ve been poking at the Jedi!Steve AU today, so here you go:

"I know I shouldn't let my temper get the best of me, Master."

"It's hard to put the knowledge into practice, though, isn't it, Steven," Master Erskine said knowingly. "But put it into practice you must."

"Yes, Master." Steve hung his head, shamefaced.

"There's no shame in failing," Master Erskine assured him. "Only shame in not trying to do better."

So Steve tried. He really did.

Like the Deserts Miss the Rain bc now i have that song stuck in my head

This is the Anakin/Padme reconciliation story that is a sequel to Drought Conditions, which is being held up because I find Padme’s POV difficult to write from but I feel like it has to be her POV. Anyway, the idea is that Palpatine is going to be visiting Alderaan so she has to take Luke away so they don’t get caught (she’s living there as one of Breha’s ladies in waiting), and after they drop him off with Owen and Beru, she and Anakin get stuck in a ship with a malfunctioning hyperdrive (because of course they do) and have to work their shit out over the course of their long slow voyage to get parts for repairs.
